The Murer House was happy to contribute to this project. Here's the feedback and information if you'd like to be involved.
It was a pleasure to meet you and some of your gardening crew. On behalf of our team and the fawns, a big thank you for providing enough food to feed the fawns today and tomorrow!
Here are some pictures of the fawns enjoying the rose leaves and petals.
I will look forward to seeing you again next week.

Dear Fawn Friends,
We’re in the final stretch of fawn season! 🦌🌿
Our little bottle babies have grown into big, hungry youngsters, and they’re getting closer to the day when they’ll take their first steps back into the wild. But before they go, they need plenty of fresh browse and fruit to fuel this final stage of rehabilitation.
And they have developed quite an appetite!
We’re currently going through approximately 10-12 five-gallon buckets of fresh branches EVERY DAY, and our need for browse will continue through the end of October, or until the leaves fall or dry up, whichever comes first.
So, we’re making one final call to our wonderful leaf donors:
🌿 Do You Have Leaves? We’ll Come Get Them!
If you have trees that need trimming, we can come cut and collect the branches for you! You don’t need to transport them, and you don’t have to do the cutting yourself. Reach out to us to coordinate the date and time. A few buckets, a few branches, or a whole tree’s worth of browse can make a big difference to our hungry fawns.
We’re collecting:
Mulberry
Plum and plum-cherry
Peach
Nectarine
Pluot
Rose leaves and petals (don't worry, they don't get hurt from the thorns)
Apple
Soft oak
Ornamental and purple plum
Big leaf maple
And, of course, grapes and watermelon remain their favorite fruits! 🍇🍉
No citrus leaves for these browsers, including orange, lemon, lime, or grapefruit.
You are also still welcomed to cut and deliver to us 🌳:
For the best and freshest browse:
• Keep leaves attached to the branches.:
• Cut branches the same day whenever possible.
• If cutting the evening before, place branches in water overnight.
• For easy transportation, wrap branches in a sheet, tarp, or similar material, burrito-style!
📅 Ready to Help?
Please coordinate the date for your trimming or donation in advance with our Assistant Director, Cindy Clappton, at [email protected].
We’ll be collecting through the end of October, or until the leaves fall or dry up.
