I admit, I’ve been slacking on social media posts lately! Something about this time of my life is making it hard to make time for it 😅. But if there’s one thing that motivates me to post, it’s getting in something really exciting at the gallery! Susan Icove just brought in 7 new table lamps! And they’re all SO COOL!

We are so lucky to get to work with Julie Arrington of jewelry. I love how Julie describes her work and process… so important to how we connect with handmade objects!

“I am the keeper of the torch, drawn to the ancient art of metalsmithing. Each piece I create is shaped entirely by my two hands, using sterling silver sheet and wire, bronze and brass, brought to life with fire and flame. I pair these metals with hand-selected stones- turquoise, amber, opal, moonstone, labradorite, kyanite and other natural gems- that seem to hold stories within them. My work is rooted in tradition yet shaped by my own vision, resulting in one-of-a-kind creations. Every piece carries the mark of time, craft and intention.”

Eclipse Bowls by John Geci are just incredible! A while ago I picked up work from John in his studio in Bakersville, NC and he was working on one of these double walled bowls. I was so amazed at how he turned a bubble of glass into a hollow walled bowl.

Stephanie McCune's whiskey glasses have become very sought after here at Troika. Having something so beautiful that also has a fun function is a priority for us!

Stephanie says of her work, "Creating has always given me peace and purpose, and what began as costume making, painting, and crafting in my mother’s sewing room has morphed into a career as a glass designer and maker."

Oh how I love these glass bottles by Haley Jelinek! The designs on them are so cool and unlike any other glass we’ve carried so far. We were introduced to Haley’s work through Kathryn Adams, another of our NC glass artists and studio-mate of Haley’s. Keeping new artists and artwork in our shop is a top priority!

I recently moved these hand blown glass wall plates by Hayden Wilson to a new location in the gallery and I’m loving the way they work with the Jessie Benson encaustic painting. It’s always very fun to see how different mediums work next to each other.

The next Maker I’d like to introduce is another local potter, Wendy Werstlein of Wrenn Pottery. Wendy says about her work, “For me, creating functional ceramics is a visceral process where simplicity and truth merge. In a fast-paced culture that is removed from nature, it is through the creation and use of handmade objects that we can slow our pace and reconnect with the world around us.”
