The Boulder Art Gallery is pleased to have just acquired this original watercolor by the nationally known artist Cecile Ryden Johnson. This is an exceptional rendering of Main Street in North Conway, NH during ski season. A quick glance at her biography shows that winter, ski, and snow scenes were among her favorites. This hard to find piece of artwork of this great NH town, is untouched and still retains its original matting, and period frame. Artwork is 12" x 16" framed, 20" x 26". $450 (Please excuse the glare as painting is under glass)

Thanks so much to all who ventured out today to view artist Paul Gaj's show, "View of a New England Artist." Everyone enjoyed the live music of Bob Jordan as well as the incredible display of Paul's New England art! There is still plenty of time to stop in the Gallery and check out the artwork and also time to take part in a silent auction of one of Paul's specially done paintings celebrating 250 years of America. Thanks again to Iphie Burg of the "Village Art Show" for another successful event.

Jacob Zapata, chief operating officer and partner at "The Tocci Group", a real estate development firm, stopped in the Gallery looking for a few pieces of artwork. A watercolor by Ann Capodagli titled "Common View", caught his eye, and also an impressionistic oil on canvas of Monument Park showing a hint of the old Courthouse. Because this building is on the company's short list for development, he just had to have it. The Tocci Group is currently redeveloping several properties in the downtown area of Fitchburg.

Ann and I were so pleased to be asked to judge the 37th Annual Spring Art Show of the Greater Gardner Artists' Association. We joined forces with Joyce Miller, professor and Art Department Chair at Mount Wachusett Community College to evaluate the incredible selection of artwork. The show opens tonight, April 24, from 6:00pm - 9:00pm and continues on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. For our vintage and collectible art customers, we are pleased to offer this interesting and unusual piece titled, "Caribbean Catch," by the well listed artist, Mildred C. Jones. Mildred wintered in Mexico and the Virgin Islands for many years and loved to capture the daily lives of its people. I've included a similar piece of hers strictly for reference. A gentleman, who happens to be part "Cherokee" and involved with many Pow-Wow events in the area stopped by the Gallery looking for vintage "Native American" artwork. He was happy to discover we had three interesting pieces. The first was a vintage photograph by James Arthur with the name "Pocahontas" carved into the frame. The second was the familiar, "Appeal to the Great Spirit", by Cyrus E. Dallin, and the third was titled "The Burning Arrow," by Astley D. Middleton, with a gorgeous peace pipe carved into the frame. All three pieces now have a new home and definitely went to the right person.

A unique and interesting exhibit, "Cartoon World" will be opening Saturday, February 14th at the Boulder Art Gallery.
