Just received from Sally Windle, Director of ArtSpace Lima—an image and article from The Lima News—that had to have been 1975 or ‘76 while I was still an ONU undergrad Art Major, and The Lima Square Fair was still happenin❤️.
I would have been in my Clay Phase then— and had wanted to go to Grad School for Ceramics..Clay has more senses involved in creating. You can feel the Clay, the coldness of wet slip when throwing a pot, and how when leather hard—a pot feels alive. Then after bisque firing, glazing the dry piece in what looks like a Peptobismol Milkshake that after firing in a cone 10 gas Kiln it becomes a beautiful Albany slip Temmoku glaze—or or maybe even be Part of throwing Rock Salt into a Salt Kiln for a nice orange peal salt glaze…
But then it Turned Out—as Fun & Interesting as ceramics was & is for me… I’m just a much better watercolor painter than Potter.
