A huge thank you to Girl Scout Troop 10471 for their incredible work installing brand new bee hotels at the Riverside Nature Center yesterday! ๐Ÿโœจ

These custom-built structures provide crucial nesting habitats for our local pollinators, helping support biodiversity right here in our park! We are so proud of these young conservationists for dedicating their time, creativity, and hard work to protecting local wildlife.

Stop by the nature center to see their amazing work in person and learn more about how you can support beneficial insects in your own backyard!

๐ŸThe Heritage Orchard is full of Apples Right now!๐ŸŽ

We've been getting a lot of questions and yes, you can pick them!

All we ask is that you take only what you need for your pies, crumbles, or fritters, so that there's some available for other visitors and local critters! Come enjoy the agricultural heritage of the city we call home!

Note: These fruit trees are not treated by the city. Only irrigated.

๐Ÿ‚Rush Hour!๐Ÿฆ…

As we head into the last week of August, our skies are about to get a lot busier. From now through mid-October, millions of birds are making their journey south for the winter after breeding season.

Because Farmington and San Juan County sit right on the overlap between the Central and Pacific Flyways, we get a front-row seat to an incredible diversity of species moving through our area.

Keep an eye out for warblers, flycatchers, waterfowl, and even raptors passing through. Some of these species will end their journey all the way in Argentina, Like the Swainson's Hawk pictured below!
