PRICKETTS FORT INVITES VISITORS TO RELIVE THE PIONEERING SPIRIT OF CAPTAIN JACOB PRICKETT AND HIS FAMILY. Prickett's Fort State Park uses a living history style of interpretation to preserve, document and exhibit the past. It features an 18th century recreation of the original Pricketts Fort which provided a place of refuge from Native American attack. In addition, guests enjoy visiting the origin

Its time to celebrate Prickett's Fort's 50th Anniversary Weekend! Be sure to put the first Free Outdoor Concert on your calendar for Saturday, June 6th at 7pm in the Prickett's Fort Amphitheater. We have two great groups lined up to get the concert season started.

This concert is provided to the public free of charge through the generous support of Vandalia Health.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration at Prickett’s Fort State Park is quickly approaching on June 5th, 6th, and 7th! Are you getting excited?

The Pricketts Fort Memorial Foundation is pleased to present the activities for the rest of the celebration with FREE admission to the Fort on Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th. Please see the attached schedule of events!

We still have reservations available to the Reception and Dinner to be held on Friday, June 5th at 5:30pm so please call the office by noon Friday, May 29th to register. This part of the event is semi formal but high heeled shoes are not recommended for women, as we will be in the Fort and out on the park grounds.

There are just a couple days left to get your prepaid reservations in to see Whispers in the Wind at Pricketts Fort this Friday, May 22nd and Saturday, May 23rd from 7-8pm. Call 304-363-3030 to get on the reservation list!

The show will go on, rain or shine! If it rains, we will move the production inside the Visitor Center.

There are still a few seats available for Whispers in the Wind on Friday, May 22nd and Saturday, May 23rd, 2026.

This original work was written by Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts students and performed by actors from the Town and Gown theater company under direction of Dr. Francene Kirk. Attendees will meet at the Pricketts Fort Visitor Center at 7pm and will be guided on a walking path to the cemetery for the one-hour production.

The Heirloom Plant Sale will be held Saturday, May 9th from 10am until the plants sell out at the Pricketts Fort Visitor Center. There will be a variety of vegetables and flowers from the early days of gardening.

This program is provided by the Marion County Master Gardeners, whom the Pricketts Fort Memorial Foundation would like to thank for their ongoing support of gardens and landscaping within Pricketts Fort State Park.

Come celebrate the joys of spring with a morning bird walk at Pricketts Fort on Wednesday, May 6th for the next Spring Bird Walk with Joey Herron. Free and open to the public, this program is from 8am to 10am.

Renowned birder Joey Herron will lead the public on this annual rite of passage throughout Pricketts Fort State Park in search of the varied species of migratory birds that inhabit the park in both spring and summer. Please wear sturdy walking shoes and bring binoculars if you have them.

Prickett’s Fort’s 50th Anniversary Celebration is coming up on June 5th to 7th, 2026!

Festivities start Friday, June 5th at 5:30PM with a semi-formal reception and dinner; paid reservations required and cost is $75 per person. Those reservations are being taken now so call the office at 304-363-3030 or stop by the Visitor Center at Pricketts Fort for more information and to pay for the dinner. The reception is sponsored by Steptoe & Johnson, PLLC.

Then on Saturday, June 6th we’ll have special activities in the park with an opening ceremony at 9AM, and the Fort will open with free admission to the public. We will end the day with 2 free outdoor concerts in the amphitheater from 7-8:30PM featuring the Brass, Rhythm, and Sax Orchestra and the Mountainaires, sponsored by Vandalia Health.

On Sunday, June 7th we will continue the celebration from noon until 4pm.

The Pricketts Fort Memorial Foundation would like to extend a special thank you to WVU Medicine for their Overall Sponsorship of Prickett’s Fort’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.
