Did you know chicken eggs can vary in shell color? 🐣

Chicken egg color is determined by the hen’s breed and genetics, which dictate the types of pigments deposited onto the egg as it forms!🥚

Did you know that Enid was one of the Poultry Centers of the United States from the 1910s to the 40s, and that the poultry industry was predominantly ran by women at that time?

Lots of folks in northwestern Oklahoma still raise chickens for personal use, and have to collect eggs from the coop regularly!

At Family Farm Day 2026 , there will be a fun egg collecting relay/obstacle course ran by the awesome students from Cherokee FCCLA for guests to participate in! 😄

This is just ONE of the many hands-on activities that will be available to visitors! Doesn’t that sound EGG-citing? 🤩🤣

DaZe in a MaZe will also be joining us with actual poultry from their petting farm! 🐣😊

See you in the Village on October 3rd! 👀🥳

Corn is something that is widely used in many cultures, and in many different capacities! 🌽

It’s a grain that is incredibly versatile, and at Family Farm Day 2026, you’ll get to see some of the ways that it is utilized in different cultures!

We’ve partnered up with the Garfield County Hispanic Coalition and Chisholm Trail Milling for some really special hands-on demonstrations that celebrate both corn and culture!

Be sure to join us on October 3rd from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. for a full day of agriCULTURAL fun! 🥳

These pieces found in collections were made by hand with real human hair in the late nineteenth century!

Human hair was a popular medium during that time period used to make jewelry, and other decorative pieces like these wall hangings to commemorate loved ones, or as a means to keep track of a family’s genealogy.

Each photograph shown is individually captioned with more information on each piece!

Have you ever seen Victorian hair art?

UPDATE: A Day in the Northwest has been postponed! Thanks for your support.

You know one of the coolest things about the Heritage Center and the Humphrey Heritage Village?!

When you visit us, you’re not just visiting a museum.

You’re stepping into the past, and right into some of the places where Enid and surrounding communities got their start.

In many ways, you’re experiencing the closest thing to time travel.

We hope to see you all at A Day in the Northwest ! “Time travel” with us as you’re immersed in the history of northwest Oklahoma, compete in history-based challenges and games, and make lifelong memories with your friends and family that you can’t replicate anywhere else!

We have the only remaining Land Office in the state of Oklahoma, and 4 additional historic buildings that are over 100 years old. We have a large exhibition hall with 5 galleries, and a temporary gallery that changes every few months! On September 5th, the fun will be sprinkled throughout the grounds from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., and you won’t want to miss out!

This event is also for a good cause! All of the funds will go toward helping the Heritage Center further carry out our mission of collecting, preserving, and sharing the history and culture of the people of northwest Oklahoma for future generations! We couldn’t do what we do without the support from you all, and we’re so grateful for this incredible community.

We hope to see you all there on September 5th for an unforgettable experience. Come time travel with us!
