Spotlight on exhibiting artist Toni L. Griffin - Griffin is an architect, urban designer, and educator. She contributed collages to our current exhibition that represent the confrontation of pain and quest for joy found in the Black public realm of Chicago’s Mid-South Side. These works are exhibited alongside works by 34 other artists in our current exhibition "A Love Supreme: McCormick House Reimagined" - be sure to see the exhibit before it ends at the end of the month!

Griffin explains: “The series offers a reflection on the contests that exist over land, space and place alongside the aspiration of Black Americans to simply occupy and be carefree in public, unincumbered by fear and liberated from self-consciousness.”

It is exhibited alongside works by 34 other artists in our current exhibition "A Love Supreme: McCormick House Reimagined" - be sure to see the exhibit before it ends in one month!

Ellison explains: “Listening to Coltrane’s first piece ‘Acknowledgement’ on the album A Love Supreme, I was immediately captured by the repetitive 4 beat/3 note repetition of “F-A-F-B”. Recently becoming a student of Bass guitar, I became obsessed in playing this basic pattern, where these notes are represented on the Staff in Bass Clef notation.”
