Our studio offers instruction in wheel throwing, hand building pottery and fused glass. Classes are booked on a first come, first served basis according to subject -- for example, if you are the first one to book a class on Thursday at 3pm for wheel throwing, everyone else does wheel throwing. We can, however, accommodate several others for non-clay lessons simultaneously depending on teacher avai

lability. The studio is also available for special events and groups, such as scouts, home school students, summer camps, Schools Out Day Camp during the school year, birthday parties, bridal showers, and more. Our gallery area features our own and other local handcrafted art work.

EXPRESS WHAT DEMOCRACY
MEANS TO YOU‘
ClayGround is partnering with Lawyers Defending American Democracy (LDAD)* on a 250th USA Anniversary Community Art
Project to bring to the community a free project for all ages creating ceramic tiles that express what democracy means to you.
Come to paint ceramic tiles inspired by themes representing constitutional rights, democracy, liberty and freedoms; such as voting rights, freedom of expression, equality, civic participation, rule of law and whatever you design that expresses what our great democracy means to you! We’ll have tiles that are already engraved for you to glaze as well as clean tiles on which you can create and glaze your own designs.
Once completed and fired, we intend the tiles to become part of a large public installation displayed on our storefront. We hope to unveil the finished piece by July 4th as part of the nation’s 250th Anniversary Celebration.

People often ask why I choose to share photographs instead of videos when it pertains to how I present the ClayGround on social media. The answer is simple: it’s my way of honoring both the students and teachers.

I want you, dear follower, to take a moment to sit with each image. Observe the delicate arch of a hand holding a rib, or the thoughtful expression of a student contemplating their next creative move. Each potter’s wheel is unique, just like the student behind it.

On a personal note, I prefer not to share the silly—sometimes borderline ridiculous—things I say to elicit smiles from students and teachers. I also want to protect those intimate conversations that unfold in the studio.

It’s an honor to share these glimpses into each student’s personal journey. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy capturing these moments.

Express What Democracy Means to YOU!

Join us at ClayGround to celebrate the spirit of democracy! The American Revolution began with ordinary people like YOU, transforming frustrations into action. Let’s honor those core commitments that have evolved over time:

Government by Consent: Power comes from the PEOPLE - VOTE!
Rule of Law: No one stands above the law.
Liberty & Rights: We are all created equal.
Civic Engagement: Be active, informed & engaged!
Checks on Power: A system designed to prevent concentration of authority.

What does democracy mean to you?
Create art that expresses your views on our rights and freedoms. We’ll provide ceramic tiles for you to glaze (paint) with your unique designs—some will have etchings, and others will be blank for your own expression.

WHEN: May 30th (12 PM - 5 PM) & May 31st (12 PM - 4 PM)
COST: FREE - just like us!

May is a very important month - there’s Mother’s Day on May10th and Memorial Day on May 25th. The premise of these two days is based on a few crucial ideals that are foundational to our democracy - making way for us to reveal on July 4th the final product of your community project celebrating the 250th birthday of the Constitution of the United States. Mothers everywhere teach us to treat each other truthfully, fairly and justly; with an obligation to participate in making this world a better place for all. Our soldiers are celebrated on Memorial Day for standing up for democracy, making the ultimate sacrifice so that our liberties and rights remain intact, are protected and are preserved.
Celebrating 250 years of struggle and success warrants your participation in expressing what Democracy means to YOU! And the ClayGround is going to provide you the opportunity to do that in ceramic glory. See below for details...we can’t wait to see what you have to say and how you express it!

Of course, don’t forget to come and make something special for or with mom or a person who has served in our armed forces, in any of our wonderful classes in pottery or glass.

One of my favorite aspects of being part of the ClayGround community is the spirit of collaboration we’ve cultivated in our little village. Recently, we took this to the next level by inviting fellow teachers from the wheel class to share their expertise with our hand builders.

The idea that pottery wheel and hand-built pottery should remain in separate spheres has always felt like a divide that doesn’t need to exist. A little too Jets and Sharks for my taste. After all, every piece of pottery can benefit from a bit of trimming, right?

A huge thank you to for sharing your endless knowledge with our Six Week Hand Builders! Your insights make a world of difference, and we appreciate you more than you know.

Let’s keep blending our skills and pushing the boundaries of creativity together!

ATTENTION!!!!
Spring Fest is upon us! Music, food, art and so much more.
For our students, we usually ask you arrive 15 minutes early for class, we would like to ask you come 30 minutes early.
Parking is always an adventure on the weekends in our historic town and this weekend, we are doubling down.
Please plan for traffic, looking for parking and walking from said parking spot to the ClayGround. Please take note, OEC offers a trolley that will get you from your parking lot to where you need to go. It’s also a fun way to see our adorable town and view the many activities of this years Spring Fest.
Even better… come early and stay late. There is so much you can enjoy.

These one-of-a-kind pieces of work span the functional to the whimsical and are guaranteed to bring joy to any recipient. Come browse in a spacious and natural light filled gallery that is an experience all by itself.

April flowers bring May showers?? This may be backwards but there’s nothing backwards about Kate Rowe’s hand carved and glazed flower mugs. They are so gorgeous you can almost smell them over the coffee, tea or hot chocolate you’re drinking from them. And she has even more flowers in platters as well. Two New Special Ceramics Classes

Bree Hughes is our very special multi-talented artist/manager. She is committed to bringing joy and peace through creativity to all who take her classes. And she has many, many ideas of how to do it. In May she is offering 2 new classes for you. Each class is one evening of creativity and another for glazing. First is a Mystical Mirror Class and the second is a Mugs of Whimsy Class.
