Yesterday, 50 Arrow Gallery had the honor of hosting a day celebrating Stavros, and we are still feeling incredibly grateful for everyone who helped make it happen.

Thank you to the Gaon Soloists for filling the gallery with beautiful music, including this performance of “Jig from St. Paul’s Suite” by Gustav Holst. Thank you to Roxy Rocker for serving as our wonderful MC, and to everyone connected to White Nine for helping bring disability history and advocacy into the center of the day.

We are deeply thankful to the Stavros staff, board members, volunteers, community partners, artists, advocates, elected officials, friends, families, and neighbors who came through our doors and helped make the gallery feel alive.

And a huge thank you to the sponsors and partners who helped make this event possible: Greenfield Savings Bank, Intergrey Builders, Paycom, Wohl Family Dentistry, New England Foundation for the Arts, Hashi Pottery Plus, Stavros, and everyone who contributed time, resources, food, labor, and care.

50 Arrow has always been about making space for artists and community to meet each other. Yesterday was one of those days when that idea felt especially real.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, helped out, listened, celebrated, and shared the space with us.

We’ve heard a little confusion about Saturday’s schedule, so let’s clear it up.

There are TWO complete programs happening this Saturday, October 3, at 50 Arrow Gallery in Easthampton.

Each program includes BOTH a screening of White Nine AND a live concert by the Gaon Soloists from South Korea.

You do not need to choose between the film and the concert. They are part of the same program.

HERE’S THE SCHEDULE:

1:00 PM PROGRAM
1:00 PM: Welcome and screening of White Nine
2:30 PM: Gaon Soloists concert

5:00 PM PROGRAM
5:00 PM: Welcome and screening of White Nine
6:00 PM: Gaon Soloists concert

Doors open at noon.

White Nine is rooted in the history of Stavros and the Independent Living movement here in Western Massachusetts. We’ll be joined by Stavros founder Chris Palames and Kathy Edgell, speaking on behalf of Joe Tringali.

The Gaon Soloists are an inclusive professional classical ensemble visiting us from South Korea, and Roxy Rocker will be our MC for the day.

This whole event is about honoring Stavros, the people who built this movement, and the community carrying it forward.

Saturday, October 3
50 Arrow Gallery at Eastworks
116 Pleasant Street, Easthampton, MA

Suggested donation is $20, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Come at 1 PM or come at 5 PM. Either way, you get the full program: film and concert.

Please share this post and help us clear up any confusion. We want everyone to know exactly what is happening Saturday, and we want to fill the room.

This Saturday, October 3, we’re bringing together music, film, art, and community for a full day honoring Stavros and the Independent Living movement.

The GAON SOLOISTS 가온 솔로이스츠 are coming to 50 Arrow Gallery from South Korea for two live performances, alongside screenings of White Nine, a film rooted in the history, struggle, and lives of disabled people fighting for the right to live in our own communities.

There are two chances to join us:
1 PM
5 PM

This is a special one. Come fill the gallery. Come hear some extraordinary music. Come learn some history. Come celebrate the people who have spent decades insisting that disabled people belong in our communities, with autonomy, dignity, and control over our own lives.

50 Arrow Gallery is closed today for Labor Day.

We’re taking the day to honor the workers, organizers, artists, caregivers, builders, teachers, service workers, and everyone else whose labor keeps our communities moving.

We’ll be back soon. Until then, rest if you can. Organize when you need to. Take care of each other.

What a night.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the opening reception of Life ’N Death ’N Stuff: The Humorous World of Ken Brown at 50 Arrow Gallery.

It was good to see the gallery full of people looking closely, laughing, talking, reconnecting, and spending time with Ken’s strange, funny, deeply human world.

This exhibition is also about putting art to work. A portion of sales from the show benefits Home Sweet Home, the accessibility program of Stavros Center for Independent Living. We were glad to have Stavros with us at the reception, sharing the work they do to help disabled people live independently in their own homes and communities.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, bought work, donated, brought somebody along, or simply spent some time with us.

Life ’N Death ’N Stuff is up throughout September at 50 Arrow Gallery. If you missed the opening, there is still plenty of time to come see the show.

2. Stavros Home Sweet Home information table at the reception, with photographs, program information, refreshments, and Stavros materials.
3. A group of reception guests talking and laughing together near the gallery’s large industrial windows, surrounded by artwork.
