The Dunn Area History Museum recently received this beautiful crazy quilt dated 1883.
Crazy quilts became popular during the Victorian era. Unlike traditional quilts with repeating patterns, they were made from irregular pieces of fabric joined together with decorative stitching. Many featured silk, satin, velvet & elaborate embroidery.
This quilt features a variety of colorful fabrics, intricate needlework, embroidered flowers & a butterfly.
Thank you to the donor for sharing this wonderful piece of history with the museum.

Any guesses what this is?Hint: It’s part of our turpentine exhibit at the Dunn Area History Museum.
