Major General William C Lee Airborne Museum General William C. Lee creating, training, and forming Americas first airborne units. The city of Dunn, N.C. is very proud to have the General William C.

Lee Airborne Museum as one of its treasures. Lee is considered the "Father of the American Airborne". After fighting off much resistance from some "old school" top brass General Lee finally got the go ahead to create the airborne from the president of the USA! The museum houses General William C. Lees family items and items pertaining to General Lees military career. From his service in WW1, then

his heroic efforts and tireless work in WW2 to create the American airborne from nothing to a highly trained and combat ready fighting
force in just a few months. Many early rare and one of a kind US paratrooper items are on display. The war for the airborne soldier was just starting when the paratroopers jumped from the plane. To show what General Lees paratroopers were up against in WW2 rare German and Japanese war relics are also on display. Education, unique items and history on all 3 floors.

We are a few weeks away from our June 6th event in which we will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Museum and remembering the 82nd Anniversary of Operation Overlord (D-Day).

In addition to the other things we have planned for that day, a friend of the museum, Brad Williams, will be here portraying a WW2 sailor and talking about the Navy's role during D-Day and Operation Overlord!

We here at The General William C. Lee Museum want to wish everyone Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope everyone has a great time over the holiday with your families and loved ones!

Also, The General William C. Lee Museum will be closed Dec 24th and 25th, in observance of the Christmas holiday.

Brad Williams is here at the museum today giving a presentation/display about his father Homer Williams who was a WW2 navy veteran and served on the USS Maryland. Both Homer and the USS Maryland were in Pearl Harbour when the Japanese attack on Dec 7th 1941.

So come on out and learn about the fascinating story of Homer and the USS Maryland! While you’re here, as learn about the legacy of Major General William C. Lee and how he earned the title “Father of the Airborne”!

The museum is open Tuesday-Friday 10-4:30pm and Saturday 11-3pm.
