Before our trek, Austin Beck-Doss of the Riverton Ranger interviewed Seth McFarland about the upcoming Crystal Cave adventure, and the story even made the front page.
We also have to thank CM Ranch for giving us permission to be on their property.
Our first Crystal Cave trek was an incredible experience and a lot of fun. Before leaving the museum, our director, Seth McFarland, gave us an engaging introduction to the geology of the area surrounding the cave. We learned how unique geological conditions and chemical processes combine to create the remarkable crystals found within the cave.
Matt Gaunt, who joined us on the trek, generously shared his geology knowledge. Dave Gaddis led the trek to the cave and did an outstanding job guiding the group along the way.
It was a perfect fall day. The water was shallow, the scenery was beautiful, and the conversations made the hike even more enjoyable. From the front-page coverage to the trek itself, the day was a memorable experience and a wonderful start to what we hope will be many more Crystal Cave adventures.
Our next Crystal Cave trek is this Tuesday, October 6. There is a waiting list. 307-455-2284.
