You may not expect it in a small Wyoming town so close to Yellowstone National Park, but the National Museum of Military Vehicles is our nation's premier, world-class military history museum. We’re dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families and active-duty servicemen and women. We tell their stories in three major galleries through immersive exhibits focusing currently on World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. foot Museum currently displays the world’s largest private collection of nearly 500 fully restored military vehicles in fully immersive displays. Also, the Museum presents a historically significant major fi****ms collection that includes the fully authenticated musket that fired the first shot in the Revolutionary War Battle of Bunker Hill. The new 20,000 square-foot Poolaw Building has a 500-person banquet hall, two smaller conference rooms, a full-service restaurant and commercial kitchen, additional administrative space, exhibition prep areas, and additional exhibit storage.

Four different types of tank steering, from the Sherman to the M60, and the Pattons that did it different. Which would you prefer?

Sometimes this is the cost of these antique tank demonstrations. We think it’s worth it. See you next 4th of July!

Ever seen tank tracks up close, in slow motion?

Watch the M48 Patton, M4 (HVSS) Sherman, and Leopard 1 roll across the ground frame by frame. Every link, every pin, every ton of steel.

This is the Puteaux SA-L MlE 1937, a lighter, improved take on France's 1934 Hotchkiss 25mm anti-tank weapon. It was built so infantry could move it quickly, whether to answer a breakthrough or set an ambush.

Thank you to the Wyoming Hunger Initiative for spending two days with us in the NMMV Event Center!

This week, their team brought together partners from across the state for focus groups aimed at one goal: finding real solutions to hunger in Wyoming. It was our pleasure to open our doors to people doing such important work for our neighbors and communities.

We can't wait to see what comes from these conversations.

The German army put a motorcycle on a tiny tank?

Or did they put tracks on a motorcycle?

Either way, it worked.

Admission to the National Museum of Military Vehicles will be free on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, in solemn remembrance of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Made possible through the generous support of an anonymous donor, the day offers visitors an opportunity to reflect, remember and honor all those affected by the attacks. At 6 p.m., the Museum will also host “9-11: The Day, the Response, and the Human Price,” a free public lecture by retired Maj. Gen. Luke Reiner, who spent 36 years in the U.S. military and half of his career engaged in the war that followed 9/11. The presentation, part of Wyoming Catholic College’s 2026–27 lecture series, will take place in the Poolaw Building, with a reception to follow.

There's a vehicle on our floor that was designed to be thrown out of an airplane.
Somebody in 1944 looked at a Nebraska motor scooter and decided it belonged in a C-47.
