Kathryn Oberdorfer’s exhibition, “That’s How the Light Gets In,” is on view through June 16…

“This exhibit is in response to Leonard Cohen’s song “Anthem.” In times of seemingly endless turmoil, his famous lines reminds us “there is a crack in everything, that’s how the LIGHT gets in.” For me the light is COLOR - not just an immediate glance that registers “green tree” but an awareness of the relationship of one color to another where a red looks different if the adjacent color is blue or yellow. The works that comprise this show are all abstract, they are all colorful, some are of a geometric motif, others are a field of color that projects minimalist imagery, and they all bring to mind the curious nature of color relationships.”

1) “Early Morning Sunrise,” 2025, acrylic, pastel and thread on canvas, 30 x 40”
2) “There’s a Crack in Everything,” 2023, acrylic, pastel and thread on canvas, 24 x 24”
3) “Silence is So Accurate,” 2025, acrylic on canvas, 32 x 30”
4) “The Birds They Sang,” 2025, acrylic on canvas, 32 x 30”

Barbara Carpenter’s exhibition, “Variations on a Theme,” is on view through June 16…

“These photographic images are shot through glass bricks, creating a natural distortion that transforms an ordinary scene into an abstraction. The original subject is no longer visible or meaningful. Rather, the photographs become a subject in color and design. The images are then enhanced with textural overlays, such as grain, scratches or layered patterns. The combination of optical distortion and visual texture invites the view to look beyond the the literal representation.”

Patricia Aaron’s exhibition, “Inspired,” is on view through May 19. You’re invited to join her for an Artist Talk on Saturday, May 16 at 12:30pm.

“Material exploration lies at the center of Patricia Aaron’s work. Encaustic wax, inks, oils, acrylics, and textiles coexist within layered compositions. Each piece develops through cycles of construction and disruption, revealing a visual language shaped by time, memory, and material. Together, these pieces trace an ongoing conversation between past and present—between ideas first imagined more than two decades ago, and those still unfolding.”

Susan Rubin’s exhibition, “Resilience,” is on view through May 19.

“We live in interesting times. Resilience is parallel thinking; what we see | what we feel. Plants in their places, observing nature’s persistence. Plants in our places, abstracting realism into feelings. Resilience in the work; mark by mark shaping observations into images. Resilience is nature. Stubborn Spring arrives again, respite from a dreary season.”
