Three exhibitions open at Abend Gallery this Saturday, August 22: Contemporary Figuration, a group exhibition of contemporary approaches to the human figure; Finding Shelter, new paintings by Calvin Lai; and Rhythms of Place, new paintings by Michael Magrin.

Opening reception Saturday, August 22, 6 to 8 PM at 1261 Delaware St in Denver's Golden Triangle. Calvin Lai and Michael Magrin will both be in attendance. All three shows run through September 12.

A wall of five-inch squares, each one its own world.

5 x 5 Project XIV is now on view: 24 gallery artists at one shared size, flower-crowned songbirds, candy fish still lifes, San Francisco streets, New York rooftops, storm clouds, and quiet forests, hung side by side.

A whole landscape, painted on a penny worn smooth by years of hands.

Bryanna Marie's Unnoticed is now open at Abend Gallery, forty miniature oil paintings, each one on a coin, mostly worn copper pennies about three-quarters of an inch across. Little creatures, hidden landscapes, and quiet moments most of us pass without a second glance, each one rewarding anyone who slows down to look.

Flat planes of color, and a farmhouse that could stand anywhere in America.

Justin Wheatley's United Sunder opens today at Abend Gallery, new geometric paintings of iconic Americana. Barns and farmhouses stand beneath wide skies, their fields and roads pared down to shape, shadow, and solid color, among them "The Old Farmhouse," "North of Eden," "Old Red," and "Still the Heartland."

Two new solo exhibitions open this Saturday at Abend Gallery.

Justin Wheatley's United Sunder brings together new geometric paintings of iconic Americana, barns and farmhouses beneath wide, flat skies. Bryanna Marie's Unnoticed gathers forty miniature oil paintings, each one painted on a coin, mostly worn copper pennies.

Opening reception Saturday, July 25, from 6 to 8 PM at 1261 Delaware St, Denver. Both shows are on view through August 15, and viewable online anytime.

The World in View opened today at Abend Gallery. This group exhibition explores landscapes, cityscapes, and the environments that shape how we experience the world, from coastlines and mountain ranges to quiet rural scenes and dense city skylines. Working across painting and mixed media, the artists interpret both iconic destinations and lesser-known corners, capturing landmarks, fleeting light, shifting weather, and the emotional resonance of a place.

Works pictured here are by Thomas Kegler, Adam Hall, Brian Sostrom, Raymond Bonilla, and Dominic Harman, part of a 14-artist exhibition that also includes Josh George, Deb Komitor, Bryanna Marie, Judd Mercer, Devin Michael Roberts, Brooks Salzwedel, Hiroshi Sato, Tracy Wall, and Seth Winegar.
