Life update from the sea ⛵️
After 10 years of living aboard and 4 of just fun, we are selling our old sailboat—the boat that was Tom’s Screams From The Balcony and my first home. A very bittersweet goodbye, but only because a new dream girl found us: Tuckernuck, a Cherubini 44.
A friend found her for us, and she needs some love. New bottom paint, new deck paint, a whole lot of sanding, and new teak. But this girl is a headturner with lines for DAYS. I plan on spending basically all of my land time outside my ceramic studio scrubbing, sanding, painting, and slowly bringing her back to the dream girl that earned the Cherubini 44 a place in Ferenc Máté’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥’𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘣𝘰𝘢𝘵𝘴
But even mid-makeover, SHE SAILS. Healing over at 8 knots through the Catalina Channel like it’s nothing.
This past weekend was our maiden voyage to Catalina Island, joined by some of our amazing friends who helped teach me how to sail her. She’s my first ketch, which means a lot more lines, a lot more sails—and, it turns out, a lot more fun.
A new boat, a new chapter, and hopefully many, many trips across that channel ahead. 🌊⛵️
