Colts Neck Historical Preservation Committee Preserve the heritage of the Township by preserving resources which reflect elements of its cultura B. C. D. E. F. G. H. I. J.

The Historic Preservation Committee shall be responsible to:
A. Prepare and maintain a survey of historic structures and sites within the Township from 1875 and earlier. Carry out advisory, educational and informational functions as will promote historic preservation in the Township. Preserve the heritage of the Township by preserving resources within the Township which reflect elements of its cultural, social, economic and architectural history. Promote appreciation of historic structures and sites for the education, pleasure and welfare of the local population. Encourage the appropriate maintenance and preservation of historic structures and sites. Promote the conservation of historic structures and sites and to invite voluntary compliance for said conservation. Monitor and recommend to the Township Committee the submission of any grants related to historic preservation. Monitor and recommend to the Township Committee the inclusion of any structures or sites within the state or federal historical register. Recognize structures and sites from 1875 and earlier with appropriate plaques. Collect and maintain an oral and pictorial history of the Township.

Congratulations to our very own Colts Neck Historical Preservation Committee - Freehold Regional High School District Student Liaison!

Jiya Verma, a senior at Colts Neck High School, has earned a Congressional Award Gold Medal!

Congress established the Congressional Award in 1979 to recognize young people's initiative, service, and achievement . The program is open to all youth ages 14 to 24 in the United States. Participants can earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Certificates and Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Voluntary Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration.

Jiya's achievement will be recognized at a special celebration for Gold Medalists in 2027!

Henry Dickson Mercer Jr., 95, passed away peacefully at home in Rumson, New Jersey, Aug. 24, 2026. Dick was President of Hominy Hill Golf Club. In 1975, he negotiated the sale of the golf course by the Mercer family to the Monmouth County Park System, declining higher offers from real estate developers.

The Colts Neck Police Department’s National Night Out is August 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bucks Mill Park. Enjoy free food, Kona Ice, drinks, inflatables, gaming truck, balloons, giveaways, and a chance to connect with local police, Fire, First Aid, DPW, local business owners and neighbors in a fun, family-friendly setting.

National Night Out is a community-building initiative to promote police partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
