November 8 at 9 am, will be great day to ramble in the bramble at Cahokia Mounds! Join us for our annual 5K on the grounds. This will travel through some of the cultural and natural areas of the site. You'll experience forested areas, wet areas, grassy areas, and concrete trails. This is the largest fundraiser for the Support Group and funds they raise cover expenses of outreach and land acquisition efforts at the site. Join us for our Annual City of the Sun 5K Trail Run Fundraiser. This 5K run winds through trails and paths not often taken by Visitors. Surround yourself in the natural and cultural landscape of Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site while competing for a good cause.
🏅 Awards for overall male & female, 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each division.
👕Register by October 1st and save $5! Individual registration is $30 and includes a 5K T-shirt. Family registration is $50 and includes 2 T-shirts.

We're excited to share a selection of new arrivals in the Gift Shop from Indigenous-owned businesses. Stop in to explore chocolates, body care products, traditional foods and more. Your purchase helps support Indigenous makers and Cahokia Mounds!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2027 Photo Calendar Contest fundraiser!

We were amazed by the beautiful photos submitted and loved seeing Cahokia Mounds captured through so many different perspectives.
All selected photographers have been contacted – congratulations to those whose photos will be featured in this year’s calendar!

This is a photo contest to win a chance to be featured in the Calendar for 2027. We are accepting photo entries for the 2027 Cahokia Mounds Calendar till June 30. Upload your photos of the site that you would like entered in the contest, there is a $5 fee per image. We have seem many fabulous images on socials that have been taken around the grounds that would be great for the Calendar! Winning photographers will receive a complimentary Calendar.

Today is the beginning of our reopening at Cahokia Mounds. The Lobby (restrooms, gift shop, site model, Canoe exhibit and a new temporary exhibit) will be permanently open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 am to 3 pm, while we work to complete work in the Gallery wings (we hope to have this area open in late summer). As always, the grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset. We are very excited to begin the reopening process after several years of repairs and structural issues.

Cahokia Mounds World Heritage Site is now open to visitors with regular daily hours. From sunrise to sunset, guests are welcome to explore the grounds of this amazing site.

Now, from Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the interpretive center’s gift shop, restrooms, and gallery lobby are open as the finishing touches of mechanical upgrades are completed.
