The format is entirely up to you—host an 8:00 AM morning brew, a family-friendly park picnic, a classic backyard BBQ, or an evening neighborhood potluck.

What is TogetherTuesday? TogetherTuesday is a GivingTuesday activation that uplifts the spirit of generosity in local communities across the country. As part of Be The People it invites individuals, nonprofits, and community leaders to organize simple acts of care that make generosity visible.

The goal is simple: gather your neighbors, share food, swap stories, and celebrate the people who make your community tick!

Meet high schoolers Ava Tavakkoli, Osewe Ogada, and Zeta Ouanes, students at Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC. Their amazing journeys in service, from helping foster animals and cutting vegetables for Martha's Table, to creating their own NMCFS campus project (https://nmcfsproject.org/ ), are models for our youth today in how they embrace and celebrate service!

Amazing.

Meet Julie from Cocoa, Florida. Her community learnt they shared a 100-year-old riverside park and have turned it into a hub for connection. From baby showers and New Year's BBQs to stepping up when disaster strikes—like rebuilding their dock after a hurricane or helping a neighbor recover from a house fire—they prove that a neighborhood is truly what you make of it.

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, American democracy faces profound challenges in the form of declining trust in institutions and growing political and cultural divides. While policy solutions and institutional reforms are essential, they are not enough. The strength of our democracy depends on a civic culture that sustains it. Can we foster a shared set of norms, values, and beliefs that empower our institutions and help us navigate our differences?

Please join the American Enterprise Institute, the University of Virginia’s Karsh Institute of Democracy, and the Chautauqua Institution for a thought-provoking conversation on what it will take to renew the foundation of American democracy. Moderated by UVA Karsh's Melody Barnes, the panelists include: Christine Rosen (AEI), Hahrie Han (Johns Hopkins University), E. J. Dionne (Brooking's Institution), William A. Galston (Brooking's Institution), and Yuval Levin.
