We have a very special concert coming up at Cascadia next week!

Violinist Ilana Zaks has played at Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw and the Berlin Philharmonie, and soloed with more than a dozen orchestras around the US. Last year, Ilana left the Seattle Symphony and now plays regularly with the Atlanta Symphony and taught at Tanglewood last summer. She graduated from the New England Conservatory and Yale School of Music.

Ilana truly electrified us when she played at Cascadia in 2025. She’s returning briefly to Seattle and graciously requested to play again at Cascadia, including some of the most wild fireworks for the violin, music by Bach, Kreisler and other masterpieces. Ilana is one of the top rising younger violinists in the country - We hope you'll join us!

In honor of today, we're sharing this etching from Cascadia's Collection. This portrait of an American soldier was created by Northwest artist Thomas Schofield Handforth (1897-1948).

During World War I, Handforth served in France with the anatomical unit in the Army's Sanitary Corps. We invite you to reflect and remember the sacrifice of those who served.
