On this Art History Thursday we are discussing the Ohio Le***an Archives. Founded because they created community and “never wanted to feel invisible again,” the Ohio Le***an Archives have actively fought to preserve q***r history in the Midwest.

They document the stories that often go unheard so the next generation knows they are not alone. pride

: Q***r and Other Offerings is an online exhibition curated by writer and visual artist Mario Elías () gathering international artists working in painting, photography, drawing, collage, and mixed media. Running through Pride 2026, the exhibition explores desire, community, identity, and legacy, asking a singular, urgent question: what does it mean for these artists to place their representations of ***r love in full and unapologetic view?

“What does it mean to put representations of Q***r love in full, unapologetic view?”

That’s the question behind our latest online exhibition, Devoted curated by Mario Elias . Artist Kee Mabin answers it by layering history, memory, and botanical motifs to build something powerful.

What’s the first word that comes to mind when you look at Kee’s work? Let’s talk in the comments.

From the Desk of Tami | Our Latest Substack

“Thoughts are infectious. Send it out. The message will circulate faster than you think.”

On a recent trip to Los Angeles, our co-founder Tamara White stopped by to experience Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind. Walking in with few expectations, she left deeply moved by the urgency and depth of Ono’s seven-decade career.

From all-white chess games with no winners, to rooms covered in handwritten notes dedicated to mothers, Ono’s work goes far beyond “safe,” predictable art. It is a radical call for peace and unity when the world needs it most.

Read more at the link in our bio.

Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind runs at The Broad through October 11, 2026. What are your thoughts on Ono’s legacy? Let’s talk in the comments.

For this Art History Thursday we wanted to highlight on of Cincinnati’s German lithographers and writers who helped document the cities history in the 1800s and tell the stories of German immigrants in the region, Emil Klauprecht.

Klauprecht partnered with fellow lithographer Menzel to create on the premier printing companies of the early 1800s. The duo documented many historic areas of the region and OTR neighborhood, giving us an accurate picture of what life was like in the Midwest in the 1800s.

Klauprecht also became an accomplished writer, founding one of the first German newspapers and writing novels on the German experience in the Midwest.

Klauprecht is a great example of how art plays an important role in understanding the history of a region.

Brewing is an art in its own right, but the cans we drink are also covered in art.
