Celebrating Northside Artist of the Month: Isaac Friedman 🖊🎉
Isaac is an artist of many words. He layers written words on top of each other on the page until they become a unified field of color and texture. Drawings of figures make an appearance in some pieces, smiling out from the colorful tangle. Isaac will often say the word he has just written out loud, demonstrating his interest in communicating expressively through his artwork.

To the viewer these words may seem more akin to asemic writing: a form of art where the marks on the page mimic text, but have no clear meaning. Interpretation and exploration are a natural response to Isaac’s works. The viewer may extrapolate their own words and meanings from the page, or perhaps they will take a step back and appreciate the abstract shapes that form from Isaac’s mark-making.

Check out his Artist of the Month on display in the interior studio wall of V+V Northside Studio + Gallery - 3841 Spring Grove Av, Cincinnati, OH 45223
Hours: Monday - Friday 9am -4pm, Thursday 9am -8pm

Many thanks to the Elsa Heisel Sule Charitable Foundation ! Their board recently voted to award V+V a generous $10,000 grant to support our Teaching Artist Program, a unique opportunity for 40+ artists with disabilities to develop presentation and job skills that enable them to find paid teaching positions.
Last year, our TAP program spread a message of inclusion to 3,100 individuals (including 1,000 K-12 students and 2,100 community members) through workshops and classes. Now, with this support from the Elsa Heisel Sule Foundation, we hope to reach even more.

Introducing V+V Blue Ash Artist of the Month: Sanders Paul 🌈🎵

Sanders Paul loves the Beatles and playing with color. Sanders’ time in the studio follows a consistent routine: immediately getting to work upon his arrival. His illustrations typically feature people standing in a single-file line facing the viewer, and often depict family members, famous musicians, and friends. Some of Sanders’ compositions have overlapping speech bubbles filled with song lyrics or snippets of real-life conversations.

Sanders fills the background with intense, vertical stripes of color. He primarily draws with markers, using a range of colors from bright highlighter yellow to more natural shades. His work features visible marker strokes, giving each piece its own unique character and inviting viewers to follow the movement across the page.

Sanders enjoys listening to the Beatles while he works and his favorite album is Magical Mystery Tour.
