Been spending time cleaning, researching, and arranging shop jewelry displays in preparation for SeeWorthy’s Vintage Vibe Jewelry sale on Saturday November 7 from 1-4 pm. Tonight the Nanticoke sky was different at dusk. The sun was veiled in wispy clouds as it eased below the horizon with no fanfare. But after the setting, the finale truly commenced. The red fury absent the prior two nights was in full reveal. It intensified until it culminated into a layered presentation of fiery hues that only God could replicate on an infinite canvas. It took me an hour after the event to walk inside to retire after every morsel of color was absorbed by the night. Thank you God for this glorious gift!

The Nanticoke was flowing calmly at the dimming of this day. No conflicts, no politics, just calm waves gently stroking the bulkhead. After the horizon swallowed the sun, I expected a red furious sky, but the day’s mild mood dominated. Now the light is going and so must I step softly to my slumber.

Bugs and Butterflies - Labor Day unofficially marks the close of summer, although the position of the earth and sun gives us a few more weeks until the start of autumn. We will be open on Labor Day from 10-3. Vintage items we are featuring are brooches, specifically brooches that, by design, celebrate bugs and butterflies. If you are a fan of either, please stop by to view the collection. And a special shout out to Curtis, the bug man. He is a WC alum and a favorite customer. Curtis now works at the Smithsonian’s bug zoo. Feel free to share this post about bugs and butterfly brooches before the summer of 2026 ends. SeeWorthy is located at 308 Park Row in Chestertown, MD. Having loads of fun sorting through my shop inventory. Yesterday I was studying and researching brooches from the 50s and 60s that were designed in response to our country’s  preoccupation with the space program.

Today I decided to switch to the “bling bling” typical of the 50s through the 70s when using colorful rhinestones in costume jewelry became very popular. Several samples of pins or brooches in my collection are shown below. If you want more information about an individual brooch, check the captions for that picture.
