Kohl Gallery in conjunction with the Art + Art History Department at Washington College is excited to present: periphery. Four senior capstone exhibitions by Roselyn Garcia-Mendoza, Erin Helgerman, Ella Jendrek, Rebekah Naomi McCreary Salazar on view from April 17 - May 2, 2026.

This group exhibition highlights each of the artist’s perspectives from the margins - including marginalized cultures, technologies, and geographies. An opening reception featuring short artist talks at 5pm will be held on Friday, April 17 from 4:30-6:30pm.

Light refreshments will be served and the reception and ongoing exhibition are free and open to the public. Join us to celebrate these artists' accomplishments. All are warmly invited to attend.

Come on out to support the artistry living in so many of the students throughout Washington College at the annual All Student exhibition opening at Kohl Gallery this Friday, March 20th from 4:30 - 6pm.

The exhibiting students are: Ella Baldwin, Sophia Cost, Jeremy Cress, Faye Dorman, Victoria Griffith, Erin Helgerman, Ella Humphreys, Ella Jendrek, Ella Lenert, Rebekah McCreary, Sage McKim, Calynn Nelson, Ethan Ransom, Heidi Tine, Nilofar Turabi, Max Van Doren, Isabella Yim.
Their work was selected by the Baltimore-based artist and arts administrator Lou Joseph.

A tour of the catered exhibition will be led by the students and Lou Joseph starting at 5:00pm, Friday, March 20, 2026.
This All Student Exhibition will remain on view from March 20 through April 4, 2026

The Kohl Gallery would like to thank everyone who attended the event Heirloom Surgery last week. The gallery was excited to host 80 attendees including mayor of Chestertown Meghan Efland . Over 50 pieces were examined by our textile, object and book conservators Rebecca Stern, Diane Fullick and Ruth Blackson that night.

The event happened in collaboration with the current exhibit Washington College Collects!- a sneak peek into the college's vast archive over two hundred years in the making. In celebration of the nation's 250th anniversary get a rare glimpse into the history of the United States's first liberal arts college and the vast history of the Eastern Shore! The exhibit runs until this Saturday March 6th so don't miss your chance to see the pieces. Also ongoing is fundraising by the College to restore and learn more about pieces within the exhibit and broader college collection.

Today, bring your family treasures to Kohl Gallery for the FREE Heirloom Surgery! This is an opportunity to receive expert advice from textile, object, and book conservators about how you can preserve and protect your family's treasured possessions for future generations.

This event begins at 5:30pm and will end at 7:00pm on Wednesday, February 25 located in the Kohl Gallery, Gibson Center for the Arts at Washington College. There is no registration required.

This event is in conjunction with the exhibition Washington College Collects! - a sneak peek into the college's vast archive over two hundred years in the making. The exhibit runs from February 12 to March 6th.

Come explore the incredible pieces within the Washington College Archives in a special exhibit, Washington College Collects! showing at the Kohl Gallery from Thursday February 12 - March 6.
Fundraising will also be ongoing for the restoration of pieces within the colleges collection.

Now open for submissions is the Kohl Gallery's annual 100 Proof Juried Student Art Exhibit, which will be showing at the gallery from March 20th-April 4th with a public opening reception on March 20th.

This year’s exhibit is open to all mediums and themes, and all Washington College students from all majors are encouraged to apply. Experimental and ephemeral forms, including proposals for installation and performance art, are also encouraged. Artistic collaborations are welcome.

This year’s 100 Proof Juror is the professional artist Lou Joseph. Joseph is an artist and arts administrator based in Baltimore, Maryland. He is currently the Manager of Grants, Competitions and Exhibitions at Create Baltimore, the arts council for Baltimore. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a BFA in painting in 1998 and received an MFA in printmaking from Indiana University in 2004. He has exhibited work in New York, Chicago, Venice, Berlin among others. From 2012 to 2022 he directed the Institute of Contemporary Art Baltimore, an artist-run nomadic art space, staging 36 large scale solo artists exhibitions, along with professional practice programming. He lives with his family in the city of Baltimore.

Application Instructions:
You may submit up to three artworks for consideration.
Artworks must be submitted as digital images. Ensure that the following image criteria are met:
- images clearly depict artwork against a neutral background with minimal distractions
- all images should be sized to approximately 6”x8” at 72dpi, max 1MB per image
- all images should be saved as .jpg
name images with your name and the number that corresponds to the artwork submission form (i.e., JaneArtist_1.jpg, jpg, JaneArtist_2.jpg, etc.)
- Complete the Submission Form linked in our bio
