A little something extra at St Stephen’s today. Check it out!

History matters, and the stories about St. Stephens have been passed down through the generations. It's time to capture these stories and preserve our heritage.

Please join us at the St. Stephens Museum on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 9AM for "Mornings at the Museum". In August, we will be sharing stories about education and schooling in St. Stephens.

I am particularly interested in the St. Stephens Junior High School, early public school in St. Stephens, and Washington Academy. What did you study? How did you get to school? How much did it cost? Who were your teachers? Where was your school located?

250 EXHIBIT MANY VOICES, ONE NATION, ALABAMA'S 1ST COUNTY WILL REMAIN OPEN IN AUGUST ON TUESDAY & THURSDAY 10AM - 2PM. AND FOR ANY SPECIAL GROUP OPENINGS (please message to schedule)
Dear Washington County,
Our 250 Display at the St. Stephens Courthouse has been a delightful success. The 1st week we were opened, we averaged 20 visitors a day. We have continued to be open Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 - 2 in July and we continue to be busy during those times. Our strong hope is that all Washington County School students will visit this display before we take it down and we are committed to have it available. So, please tell the teachers and parents that you know "Bring your kids to this exhibit" !!
We have had so much fun as we have visited with so many of our neighbors and friends !
