You won't want to miss this great program, which will be at the History Center/train depot (340 Whitehead Street, Chatham) tomorrow evening (Monday Oct. 12) at 7:00. Local historian, author, and preservationist Kyle Griffith will be discussing the fascinating history of Pittsylvania County post offices and postmasters, which are the subject of his forthcoming book. The event is free and open to the public.

As we continue our commemoration of local history month, we have two great events coming up over the next week, both free and open to the public.

On Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11, the Fincastle Company Living History group and the George Waller Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be presenting a Revolutionary War encampment at the Callands historic site (597 Sago Road, Callands). 9-4 on Saturday and 10-3 on Sunday.

On Monday, October 12 at 7 pm our quarterly membership program at the History Center/train depot (340 Whitehead Street, Chatham) will feature local historian, author, and preservationist Kyle Griffith's program titled “Postal Pittsylvania.” Kyle will be discussing the fascinating history of Pittsylvania County post offices and postmasters, which are the subject of his forthcoming book.

The Heritage Museum (330 Whitehead Street, Chatham) will be open during the Friends of the Library book sale on Friday October 2 from 9-5 and Saturday October 3 from 10-2.

October 3 10:30-12:30. Open house and special presentation at the historic John and Nancy Yeatts House (205 Emery Road, Chatham). You won't want to miss this exciting opportunity to see this historic early 19th century home (pictured). The event will feature guided tours of the home and an exciting special presentation and announcement.
