Happy International Museum Day!
This year’s theme, “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” feels especially meaningful here in Eaton County, where our museums do far more than preserve old artifacts behind glass. They tell the stories of the people who built our towns, fought our wars, worked our mills, marched in parades, raised families, survived hardships, and shaped the communities we still call home today.
From local history museums and historic homes to libraries, archives, and Museums, these places connect generations. They remind us that even in changing times, we share a common story. Museums are where neighbors become storytellers, forgotten voices are heard again, and history becomes something personal.
Museums rely heavily on community support, now more than ever. Consider visiting, donating, becoming a member, volunteering, or simply sharing your stories with others.
And while you’re celebrating today, take time to explore one of the many incredible museums and historical organizations throughout Eaton County. Every small cash or artifact donation, membership, or volunteer hour helps keep our local history alive for future generations.
