South Dakota Hall of Fame Legend Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve spent her life telling the real stories of Native Americans, breaking down stereotypes one book at a time.

Born on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in 1933, she became a teacher, an author, and a National Humanities Medal recipient, using her own experiences to write books like "Jimmy Yellow Hawk" and "High Elk's Treasure" for young readers across the country.

Now, teachers across South Dakota can bring her story into their own classrooms.

Virginia's Legends & Learning page is a wealth of inspiration for students and is making a difference, one classroom at a time.
