Museum work days of summer were brightened by these two sisters, Caroline and Gwen. We always say we are all a big family at the museum and sometimes we are literally!

They are closed for the summer too, but Sunnyslope Historical Society Museum welcomed a group of our museum staff and volunteers for a tour last week. We packed a lot of learning and fact exploring into an amazing few hours on our private tour with their board president. From tuberculosis colonies to the infamous Winnie Ruth Judd there is much to learn about this little community that impacted the development of North Phoenix.

Two of our volunteer ladies, Jeanette and Dana, keeping busy cleaning inside exhibits while our Dream Team has been doing maintenance and repairs on our mining equipment. We appreciate the many hands who have been giving time this summer to get things ready when we open again on October 1.

🤠🌟Trivia Time! 🌟🤠

We had so much fun celebrating the town’s 40th that we have decided to continue the trivia questions, not as a contest but as a way to continue the dialogue of our area’s history!

So- let’s start with 👇

Who was the beloved actor who owned a home along the creek, was known for entertaining at Harold’s and also was the grand marshal for at least one Cave Creek parade? Those of us who lived in north Phoenix in the 70s would run into this person at stores in the 32nd St./ Shea area.
