Fire Control Tower No. 23 is New Jersey’s last remaining restorable World War II tower, part of the immense Harbor Defense of the Delaware system known as Fort Miles. Restored, maintained and interpreted by Cape May MAC (Museums + Arts + Culture), it's now a museum and memorial to our area's "greatest generation." Along the way, you can see the "Wall of Honor" (third floor) featuring now and then

photos of local veterans as well as the recreated dayroom. The view from the watchroom gives you a panoramic look at the tip of the Cape.

⚓️Fun Fact- The World War II Lookout Tower has a twin!

DID YOU KNOW!?…🤔☺️

The Grand Hotel of Cape May is built around one of the two surviving World War II Watch Towers in Cape May!!!
In 1942 shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, The Grand’s Fire Tower #24 was built. Originally meant to be used as an auxiliary tower, they later found it was most useful as a look out tower for German on-shore attacks, and watching for submarines. Cape May County played a huge role in World War II, along with the Delaware Bay.

FUN FACT!!😁:
3 of our newly renovated guest rooms actually have a curved wall due to being built directly around the tower!
⭐️Maybe your next stay will be in a room full of history!!⭐️
