The gardens are doing what they do every summer, quietly making everything more beautiful.

Come wander the grounds, find a bench, let the kids explore while you breathe for a minute. The galleries are waiting when you're ready, and the garden will be there when you need to step back outside. There's no agenda here and no rushing allowed.

The Citadelle gives you something back on the way out that you didn't know you needed on the way in. That's the beauty of art.

Open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. thecitadelle.org. FREE for kids under 18.

Texas K-12 teachers, here is a PD morning your students will benefit from in more than one subject.

Art Deco Through the Eyes of an Illustrator looks at how design, marketing, and invention moved together between WWI and WWII to shape popularity, perception, and consumer culture. The same lessons apply to Art, Social Studies, ELA, and CTE classrooms today.

You will see three Citadelle-owned works by J.C. Leyendecker, a master of American illustration during the Art Deco era, along with a painting by his mentee Norman Rockwell. Few PD sessions give teachers this kind of access to original masterworks.

Lesson ideas are interdisciplinary, open to cross-curricular connections, and built for vertical adjustment within your content area. Certificate of Completion available for PD hours.

July 8, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at The Citadelle Art Museum in Canadian, TX. $20 ticket. Coffee and light breakfast on us.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for a summer day is point the car somewhere new and see what happens.

Canadian, Texas is an hour and a half northeast of Amarillo and is worth every mile. Start at The Citadelle with us, wander the galleries, let the kids loose in the gardens, and stop by the gift shop for an activity or two to keep little hands busy on the ride home. Then head out to the Canadian River and let everybody stretch their legs.

After all that fresh air, walk Main Street, find something you didn't know you needed, and sit down for a long lunch at one of Canadian's deliciouslocal restaurants before heading home.

Art, trails, good food, and a gift shop with something for everyone. That's a summer day well spent.

Open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plan your visit at thecitadelle.org

To every dad who piles everyone in the car for no particular reason, who sits through things he didn't plan on and ends up glad he did, who builds memories out of ordinary afternoons.

To the dad who leads by example without announcing it. Who loves his people in the language of action โ€” the early mornings, the late nights, the years of consistent, unglamorous showing upโ€”Happy Father's Day!

Your brain knows something you might not have put into words yet, ๐™ž๐™ฉ ๐™ฃ๐™š๐™š๐™™๐™จ ๐™–๐™ง๐™ฉ. This is your invitation to slow down.

Standing in front of a painting that stops you, your heart rate slows, your thoughts settle, and the noise of the day loses its grip. Studies consistently show that time spent in a museum improves empathy, sharpens creative thinking, and gives the brain a workout.

The Citadelle is a world-class museum in the Texas Panhandle โ€” the same institution the Smithsonian chose as a partner for teacher development this summer, the same galleries that have housed nationally and internationally recognized artists from Barcelona to New York. What hangs on these walls was selected with the same standard you would find in any major city, and it is an hour and a half from Amarillo.

Come on in and wander slowly. Let your eyes do something other than scroll. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and free for every child under 18.

Your brain will thank you on the way home.

๐—๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿต๐˜๐—ต is is this week and time is running out to register for this important session.

Teaching difficult history well is one of the hardest things a classroom asks of you. This session gives you a framework, a model, and lesson ideas you can actually use โ€” built around the extraordinary portrait work of David Kassan, who has spent years documenting Holocaust survivors through paint and conversation.

Every grade level. Every discipline. Certificate of Completion provided. $20 includes breakfast.

Texas K-12 teachers, join us!

On July 8, The Citadelle is hosting Art Deco Through the Eyes of an Illustrator โ€” a professional development morning that traces how innovation, design, advertising, and consumer culture collided between WWI and WWII and changed the visual world permanently.

You'll build interdisciplinary lesson ideas ready to use in art, social studies, ELA, and CTE classrooms, scaled for any grade level.

And you'll see three original works by J.C. Leyendecker โ€” one of the defining illustrators of the Art Deco period โ€” alongside a painting by his mentee, Norman Rockwell. Up close, in person, in our galleries.

Light breakfast at 8:30. Program runs 8:45 to 11:30. Certificate of Completion provided. $20.

If you have been meaning to come, this is the weekend to do it. Bring someone. Take the drive. Slow down for an afternoon with seven of the most compelling portrait artists working today.

We would love to see you before it's gone.
