International Frisbee/USA Guts Hall of Fame

International Frisbee/USA Guts Hall of Fame is located at the Calumet Colosseum. Its ice rink is the longest continuous rink in North America. Some history:

Alexander Agassiz, president of the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company (1871-1910), is widely known for his innovations and leadership at the mine. The history of Calumet Township cannot be told without acknowledging his accomplishments.

Likewise, ice hockey is as synonymous with Calumet as copper mining is to the Keweenaw Peninsula. Calumet Township is home to the Calumet Colosseum (1913). The Colosseum held an NHL pre-season game between the Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues on September 26, 2019 after winning the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest. The legendary ice rink is home to the Calumet Wolverines of the Great Lakes Hockey League and Calumet Copper Kings high school team.

Ron Blau was having breakfast in a Las Vegas diner where he overheard these two guys talking at the next table about the IFT and IFA. After the introductions they had a great conversation about a lot of the players they know and events they have been to. They are planning to come to the 70th IFT. Such a small 🌎 world of guts 🥏. GUESS WHO??

This is a great compilation of the early days of Frisbee and the contributions of Eagle Harbor & it's residents.

Jim Boggio senior was inducted into our Hall of Fame in 2026. Special thank you to his son Jim junior James Boggio for his efforts in maintaining this important history. He has also added a substantial amount of documents in the flying disc museum. FDM has a great collection of all discs but Joe Essman collection of pro models are especially notable.

(A special thank you to Bruce Wilk of FDM also for his collaboration with the Boggio collection and also Buck Buchanan items).

The Keweenaw Classic was held today at Calumet Waterworks park. Was a beautiful day and a great turnout. Thanks to the 31 players who came out to play, fielding 8 3-4 person teams; and thanks, as always, to the spectators. The champs were Rachael, Carter and Tyler ‘Bob’ Brunet, with Bob taking the MVP honors. Runners up were Kate, Luke L and Luke Mc. T’was a fun Guts summer !!

The Keweenaw Classic will be this Saturday, September 12th at Calumet Waterworks Park. Please arrive at 10 am; teams to be picked by 10:30 and play to start at 11:00 am. Food and water will be provided for players and spectators. Hope to see you there!
