Garden Shed Pottery

Garden Shed Pottery I was hooked when I took one semester of pottery in high school. 40 years later, I returned to night classes at the Archie Bray. All of my glazes are handmade.

Unloading a bisque(1st firing) kiln with jars, planters, turbo berry bowls and these sushi sets. I will put a beautiful clear glaze on them and then add nice chopsticks to go with the set.
Should we add these to the hand building class .org. I could also show the techniques of painting under glaze and using under glaze decals. The handbuilding class starts September 14th. Let me know!!!
Stay tuned!

As our minerals for glazes are depleting, I am testing for new glazes to replace my old ones. This week I made several 100 gram batches of new glazes, using different amounts of oxides and mason inclusion stains, and dipping other glazes over the base glaze.
The video shows 75 tests. So many pinks and almost reds from the Mason inclusion stains and one violet that is more pink than violet, perhaps it needs a larger % of mason stain. There were 5 of them, all very similar. Also greens and blues included from differnt recipes.
All fired to cone 6 in a oxidation kiln.
If you would like any of the recipes, hit me up.

With Hughes Pottery, I just got recognized as one of their top fans! 🎉Charles has always been a favorite of mine. He was the 1st, over 10 years ago, to be generous enough to share his medium shiny green glaze.
