The Carle Gallery

The Carle Gallery The Carle Gallery at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Library was established to give local artists a profesional venue for exhibition.

Located on the third floor of the Butte-Silver Bow Public Library, the Carle Gallery opened its doors September 2013. It was established by the library as a tribute to artist John Carle, whose murals and paintings depict Butte, its historic buildings, and inhabitants. The gallery seeks to continue to honor and support local artists by providing an opportunity for emerging artists to present their

work professionally and to begin a dialogue with the community about their art. For more information, please contact Shari Curtis at 723-3361 or programming.bsbpl[at]gmail.com

After renowned artist Patricia Forsberg passed away in 2024, her husband of nearly 60 years, Stephen Speckart, sought a meaningful way to honor her life and their shared love of the arts.

UM was so influential on the couple's experience that Speckart was inspired to include a significant gift in his estate plan to the College of the Arts and Media that will establish the Patricia Forsberg and Stephen Speckart Endowed Art Impact Fund.

Read the full story to learn how Speckart’s generosity will support future generations of artists at UM: https://bit.ly/speckart.
