Cairnwood is committed to maintaining as many varieties of trees from the original Olmsted, Olmsted & Eliot 1892 – 1895 planting plans as possible. Nature deserves our respect—and even with the best of intentions our efforts don’t always work out! We have been trying for over a decade to successfully establish a Franklinia Tree on the property (Franklinia alatamaha). Out of a grouping of 3 in a new location, 1 is doing fairly well. Walk the grounds and encourage it to keep growing!
