You are invited to join in the strategic planning process for BCCHS Alumni. Your insight and expertise are invaluable, and your participation will help shape the direction of BCCHS Alumni and Museum for the future. We look forward to working together to develop actionable strategies.
The best news is you can participate anywhere. There isn't a virtual session to attend, just some good ole fashioned soul searching and strategizing for the Ramblers!
October 2026 marks the 5th anniversary of the creation of the BCCHS Museum and its location on the second floor of the Main Street Mercantile.
Your insight on all facets of the museum – location, design, sponsorship, etc. are integral to this process.
To offer the opportunity for insight freely and without reservation, all suggestions must be submitted in writing via email to [email protected]. Input will not be accepted on our FB page.
Please conduct responsible due diligence before making recommendations. For example, prior to suggesting a possible location for the museum, ensure you have verified its availability, suitability, and interest/willingness of its owner to consider a relationship with BCCHS Alumni/Museum. The committee members don’t have the necessary resources (time and volunteers) to conduct all the preliminary investigative work – thus asking your input to assist when suggesting possibility. With respect, please don’t respond with, “have you spoken with?” or “what about the empty building on STREET NAME?”. This is the due diligence referenced above and where the extra steps you take can assist us in the process.
Disclaimers:
*Moving from our current location isn’t an imminent concern, however, the museum is located on the second floor – with a steep staircase to climb. The stairs have become a concern. First floor space at the Mercantile is reserved for retail vendors only.
*Alumni support of the BCCHS Museum is not in doubt or anticipated to decline.
*BCCHS Alumni consulted Fr. John Jacquel, pastor, in March and invited representatives from St. Bernard Parish Council to discuss the possibility of future collaboration as well. Our request for a moment of time was warmly welcomed by Fr. John. He was very gracious and kind. Currently, there hasn’t been a response from parish representatives. Please note: The discussion of collaboration has not been revisited since 2021. At that time, there was not an interest from the pastor in a collaborative effort or housing the BCCHS Museum.
*Monthly rent at the Mercantile is $212.50, which we pay through sponsorships from alumni and fundraising endeavors including the Rambler Shop.
*BCCHS Alumni/Museum is not currently a registered 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
*The committee remains open to the idea of a shared space with another vendor or business if appropriate conditions exist.
*Ultimately, we are looking for a long-term solution and location for the museum.
