This week our restoration staff and volunteers were hard at work replacing a head gasket and cylinder head on Jackass & Western locomotive L3 ensuring the locomotive can remain in operable condition. The museum wishes to thank Mr. Tom Gray, owner of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad, for donating the extra cylinder head that made this repair possible.

Like many items we sell in our museum store, our popular Jackass & Western shirts and hats showcase historic pieces in our collection. In this case, the formerly top secret railroad that operated at the Nevada Test Site. You can get yours at the museum store Thursday-Monday 9:00am to 4:00pm. All sales support the museum and its programs!

Each year we offer free train rides for children over Nevada Day Weekend to help connect our young Nevadans with their history. Free train rides are available to children on Friday, October 30; Saturday, October 31; and Sunday, November 1. These trains sell out every year so we encourage you to get your tickets early!

Story Time Trains return this Saturday, October 17 with departures at 10:00am, 11:30am, and 1:00pm. Each ticket includes a children's story, coloring page, and craft activity onboard the train. Seating is limited and advance purchase is strongly encouraged. Tickets are $15 for adults, $6 for kids and available on our website at boulderrailroadmuseum.org.
