Grab your pirate hats, gather your crew, and set sail for Pirate Day at the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse & Museum!

Join us for an afternoon of swashbuckling fun, coastal history, and pirate-sized adventures! 🗺️

🦉 A LITTLE OWL, A BIG DIFFERENCE! 🏡

Have you saved your spot yet for this SATURDAY? Join Barrier Island Parks Society (BIPS) for a hands-on workshop celebrating one of Florida’s tiniest native owls, the Eastern Screech Owl!

Learn about these fascinating feathered neighbors and build your very own wooden nesting box to take home! It’s a fun, rewarding way to connect with nature and help provide a potential nesting space for local wildlife.

🪵 Screech Owl Nesting Box Program Workshop Fee: $15 per person (all materials included)
👨‍👩‍👧 Ages 14 and under: Must be accompanied by an adult

🌊 BIPS AT ENGLEWOOD BEACH WATERFEST! 🌊

What a wonderful weekend connecting with our community at the Family Conservation Center of the Englewood Beach Waterfest! The Barrier Island Parks Society (BIPS) was excited to share our passion for protecting our beautiful coastal environment through education, creativity, and conservation.

🌎 Keeping our beaches clean: We distributed our beach protector reusable bags and shared important information about beach trash and how each of us can help keep our shorelines clean and protect the wildlife that calls them home.

⭐ Creativity meets conservation: Visitors enjoyed a fun sea star craft activity with the help of a talented artist visiting from North Carolina!

🐢 Learning to protect our wildlife: Florida State Parks Park Rangers joined us to educate the public about sea turtles and the importance of protecting these incredible creatures and their coastal habitats.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by, participated, asked questions, and shared in our mission. Every conversation, small action, and new connection helps make a difference!

Together, we can INSPIRE, EDUCATE & PRESERVE the natural treasures that make our coastal communities so special. 🌴

🌴 DUNE RESTORATION IS UNDERWAY! 🌊

We’re excited to share that work has begun on dune restoration around the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse & Museum!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Lee County Tourist Development Council and the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau, this important project is helping support the preservation and protection of the beautiful coastal environment surrounding one of Gasparilla Island’s most treasured historic landmarks.

At Barrier Island Parks Society (BIPS), we are committed to our mission to Inspire, Educate & Preserve... protecting our natural resources and historic treasures for generations to come.

We are grateful for this support and look forward to sharing updates as the restoration progresses! 💙🌿

A special shoutout to Linda Soderquist (Linda's Island Art) for her fascinating presentation on Sea Turtles, and to Boulevard Coffee Roasting Co. for helping make the morning extra special with great coffee!
