Back out at the Riverside Arts Market (RAM) this morning! I had no idea what the weather was going to do with Isaias passing to the west, so I planned small with just some jewelry and journals. These earrings feature miniature versions of my photography. 🤗

Weather has cleared out, so if you are in town, come on down to RAM! I’m on the plaza side, blue tent!

Here’s a close up of one of the finished journals I shared Saturday. I used a double needed Coptic stitch, which is probably my favorite stitch. So for this one, that means I had six needles going at once, three pairs of two. I’ve also started making these little belly bands (second photo), which honestly came about as a way to attach a price tag for my markets. This is the first time I’ve sold my journals in person, so where to attach a price tag was something new I needed to determine!

Way back in late March I committed to coming back to the Riverside Arts Market for the first time in 12 years, scheduling my first day back for September 26. Between then and now, I was also accepted to the Atlantic Beach Arts Market, Inc. (ABAM), which is an amazing gallery setting open seven days a week, and then there’s that little cancer issue we are dealing with.

So as September 26 has crept up on me and I realized the majority of my current finished work is out at ABAM, I’ve had to get cranking on some new work! I’ve completed these seven journals and four more as well as a couple dozen bracelets so far. Thankfully, I already have quite a bit of photography inventory that is not at ABAM, so that’ll be good fill since I’m going to set up my RAM booth like a little arts boutique. Now I have a week left to get as much more work done as I can! Gonna have some late nights!

Book post! In the “there’s something for everyone” category, Heart the Lover was our August book for our Chapter Night book club. It’s about a small group of college friends, making their way through college and then coming back together for reasons I won’t spoil later in life. This book was on many Best of 2025 lists, but our book club was divided; some loved it, some didn’t care for it at all. I wasn’t able to attend the actual meeting this month, but I was in the latter group. I just found the writing uninspired and a bit cliched. The ones who liked it shared that they liked discussing how friendships in college morph and change over the years. So, did you read this book? What did you think?

So I did a thing! My daughter and I visited the Atlantic Beach Arts Market on a whim, and we fell in love with it! We didn’t go with the idea of me possibly being a vendor there, but after walking through the amazing space and seeing all the beautiful work, I asked! The owners are lovely, they liked my work, and they invited me in.

Right now, I have a mix of my jewelry, handmade journals and photography in my space so I can get a feel for what will work best. I was able to set up my awesome space July 27 and had my first time volunteering today. Since it’s a co-op, each artist is given the opportunity to volunteer 3.5 hours a week in order to learn more about the shop and earn a higher percentage of your sales. I’m excited about the opportunity! If you are in the Jacksonville area, be sure to check it out! They are open every day 10am-5pm.

Messy May No. 22, prompt mend. Didn’t really pay much attention to the prompt this time, but at least back to playing. Using up scraps!

Messy May No. 20, prompt intention. So my intention here was to get back into my art journal. Funny story about my latest absence. A little over two weeks ago, I cut the bejesus out of my thumb washing dishes. I knew when I did it, it was bad, and I immediately said, “um, Family, need a little help here. I just sliced open my thumb.” Truth be known, I probably should have gone to the ER for stitches, but I’m stubborn that way. The cut itself is finally healing up, but I did a number on the nerves, which I’m not sure are ever going to heal! The end of my thumb had that odd feeling you get when your foot or hand “falls asleep”!

I found this yummy book in one of my favorite haunts for less than $10. As the woman checking me out was oohing and awing about what an amazing antique book I’d found, my daughter and I just smiled and kept our mouths shut because we both knew I was going to take it apart and turn it into an art journal. It was already falling apart anyway! Swipe to see! 🤗

Messy May No. 19, prompt doorway. I’ve had this beautiful postcard on the left from Nellie Wortman floating around for years and decided it needed a home here! I added some additional pen work and a different bird and then decided that little bird needed to be watched over by the owl.
