We are excited to loan these two Dave Nickerson models of the Alexander Black House and the Blacksburg Motor Co. from BMCF Collections off to the Belle Hampton Legacy Center for their Red, White, and You event this upcoming Sunday, September 6!

This Sunday, the Belle Hampton Legacy Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preservation, education, and inspiration, will host a 250-Year National Celebration honoring Belle Hamptonโ€™s founding in 1767, the Southwestern families who have impacted the area since the founding of our nation, and the spirit of America since 1776.

Join us Thursday, September 10 for a book talk with Kathleen Curtis Wilson, Author! Wilson will discuss her novel "The Fabric of Wishful Thinking", a richly researched portrait of 1910 rural Appalachia, written through the lens of deep expertise in Appalachian history, craft, and culture.

Make sure to stop by and check out this 104 years old program from a Virginia Tech and Virginia Military Institute game from Thanksgiving in 1922! Weโ€™ll make sure to leave the program open to the record for former tech-cadet games dating back to 1894. Make sure to take a peak before the game starts!

Interested in learning more about the mutual aid societies that operated out of St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall? Follow along as we work toward completing the restoration and finalizing interior and exterior exhibits. We will not only keep you all posted on progress, but will also highlight artifacts that detail the history of the Hall!

Let's play a game of "Spot the Difference" ๐Ÿ˜‰

Our visitors often ask for the story behind the wallpaper in the Alexander Black House. While the wallpaper is not original, it is from a company called Bradbury & Bradbury that makes William Morris inspired wallpaper.

The wallpaper throughout the house was specifically picked to match the exterior paint and coordinated with the historic color palette on the interior. Follow & Bradbury Art Wallpapers for more beautiful papers as well!
