THE AVIATION COLLEGE HAS TEN NEW GRADUATES!

Last Thursday, we awarded General Aviation Certificates to ten Dual Enrollment Aviation Maintenance students (all of whom attended the museum’s campus of Snead State Community College) during a special ceremony held at the museum.

These students have successfully completed a significant phase of their aviation maintenance careers. They’re now preparing to pursue gainful employment, internships, apprenticeships, and advanced educational opportunities within the aviation industry.

The ceremony was attended by museum director Brian Barsanti and Dr. Joe Whitmore — President of Snead State Community College — who proudly presented certificates to the graduating students.

We also recognized Primary Airframe & Powerplant Instructors Larry Adams and Wayne Qualls for their leadership, instruction, and commitment to preparing the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals.

We are truly grateful for the continued success of the museum’s partnership with Snead State Community College. Together, we’re helping meet Alabama’s current and future needs for aviation workforce — through hands-on training, industry-focused education, and career readiness opportunities.

EXCELLENT new blog post, by our own Randy Law, honoring Birmingham-born David Perry Donahoo Jr. — a young flight officer who served in the Pacific during World War II and never returned home.

Honoring A Fallen World War II Airman As Memorial Day reminds us, the freedoms Americans enjoy today were secured through the service and sacrifice of ordinary citizens who answered their nation’s call in extraordinary times. One of those was David Perry Donahoo Jr., a young flight officer who ser...

A belated, but deeply appreciative, Thank You to everyone who made this year’s Bay of Pigs Commemoration Day our most successful ever.

Overall attendance was double last year’s. Media coverage was unprecedented. And our keynote speaker — Coca-Cola United CEO Mike Suco — left barely a dry eye recounting his parents’ journey to achieving the American Dream, in the aftermath of escaping Cuba with little more than the clothes on their backs.

That said, we'd be remiss if we didn't celebrate the reopening of the Bay of Pigs Museum and Library in Miami — which happened the weekend before our own commemoration. Here’s a link to our blog post honoring the event.

Lastly, a very special thank you, again, to each of our sponsors — below. We are forever grateful for, and honored by, your support.

A pioneering Alabama aviator is being honored in Jasper tomorrow!

Hilda Ray, the first woman in Walker County to earn private and commercial pilot’s licenses along with an instrument rating, is featured in a new exhibit unveiled as part of the city’s latest historic preservation effort. Thursday, May 7, officials will dedicate the restored “White House on 5th,” a new city museum that will feature Ray’s aviation memorabilia, including a shirt cut in celebration of her first solo flight.
