MEET TJ JONES (L), Director of “10 Good Men” — the excellent documentary we’ll be premiering at the museum THIS THURSDAY (ticket link at bottom)!

“Growing up, I didn’t study film, nor have any major interest in it. But I always had an affinity for World War II history — specifically aviation history. A few years back (about 2021), I started making videos that told the stories of air battles and dogfights from WWII and other wars. I’d research them, then recreate the missions and battles with high-end flight simulators. When that blew up on YouTube, it became my full time job!”

“In late 2022, we got an opportunity to interview our first WWII veteran — Richard 'Dick' Miralles, who was an SBD gunner in Air Group 11 over the Pacific. After interviewing him, we recreated his missions, and told his story. It was amazing!”

“After that, interview opportunities began pouring in. These were guys age 97-100 at the time, and we travelled across the country capturing their stories.”

“Eventually, I realized I wanted to produce a single project telling as many of their stories as I could — and I wanted to film these heroes before they were gone. So I began work on a video featuring all the B-17 veterans. ‘10 Good Men’ is the product of three years of work!”

“I’m releasing the film in select theaters across the country, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.”

“I really look forward to Thursday at the Museum, for our first showing in Alabama. It should be a blast!”

“BTW: That’s me with Joshua Profit — my Associate Producer, Cinematographer, and good friend — who travelled with me to interview all of the veterans.”

Showtime is Thursday the 18th at 6:00 at the museum. You get the movie AND dinner for just $28!

THE AVIATION COLLEGE HAS TEN NEW GRADUATES!

Last Thursday, we awarded General Aviation Certificates to ten Dual Enrollment Aviation Maintenance students (all of whom attended the museum’s campus of Snead State Community College) during a special ceremony held at the museum.

These students have successfully completed a significant phase of their aviation maintenance careers. They’re now preparing to pursue gainful employment, internships, apprenticeships, and advanced educational opportunities within the aviation industry.

The ceremony was attended by museum director Brian Barsanti and Dr. Joe Whitmore — President of Snead State Community College — who proudly presented certificates to the graduating students.

We also recognized Primary Airframe & Powerplant Instructors Larry Adams and Wayne Qualls for their leadership, instruction, and commitment to preparing the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals.

We are truly grateful for the continued success of the museum’s partnership with Snead State Community College. Together, we’re helping meet Alabama’s current and future needs for aviation workforce — through hands-on training, industry-focused education, and career readiness opportunities.
