Join us tomorrow for a free presentation by historical reenactor Leslie Bramlett, who will portray Hannah Archer Till, George Washington’s personal cook during the Revolutionary War, in an original one-woman show.

The daughter of an enslaved African American woman and an Oneida Indian man, Hannah Till was born into slavery in 1721. In 1777, she was leased to General George Washington as his cook and servant. She and her husband purchased their freedom the next year but continued to work for Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette until the end of the war. She was present at every battle Washington fought during the Revolution.

The house will be open from 12-4; the presentation starts at 1.

About the Presenter – Leslie Bramlett is a Certified Public School teach, holding certifications in Elementary, Social Studies, Teacher of Reading, English as a Second Language and works as a Historical Interpreter for several museum and historical sites. She is the owner of Form the Grey Fortress, LLC, and educational consultancy dedicated to telling American history and spotlighting the contributions of African American woman throughout time.

Join us Saturday for an exciting presentation "The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Early American Women and their Kitchen Gardens!"

Guest speaker Lesley Parness will offer a lively presentation about the early American women and their kitchen gardens. In the 1700s, kitchen gardens fed, healed, and clothed early American families. The 18th century "huswife" skill set included "physicke, cookery, distillation, perfumery, the making of wool, h**p, flax, dayries, brewing, baking," and, of course, gardening. Growing plants both Native American and from their homelands, these women turned their soup pots into the "melting pot" that is America and exemplified all the best qualities of plantswomen and patriots.

The house will be open from 12-4 for tours. Lesley will speak at 1.

Bedminster remembers 9/11. As best as we are able, we express eternal gratitude to our first responders. They keep us safe, rescue us when we need, and have the bravery to rush into a burning building when the rest of us just want to get out. Our words are inadequate to the task at hand, so all we can do is say thank you. We thank the Pottersville Volunteer Fire Company, Far Hills-Bedminster Fire and First Aid, and the Bedminster Township Police. A grateful community pays homage on a day of deep meaning.

A section of the Twin Towers is on display in Pottersville. We encourage everyone to visit, pause a moment, and reflect.
