HAPPY HARVEST FROM THE PLAINSMAN MUSEUM!

The harvest season is officially upon us, and our local farmers are working hard to bring in their crops for the season. Since the 1870s, agriculture has been the economic backbone for Hamilton County, and we at the Plainsman Museum continue to celebrate this heritage with our extensive collection on display in the Wesley Huenefeld Agricultural Museum. Come visit us and celebrate THIS harvest season by exploring harvest seasons of the past here at the Plainsman Museum!

* Please note that the Ag Building is seasonal and will be open until October 31st, after which it will close for the winter season. So be sure to come visit us soon!

We had a great time at the Nebraska State Fair's Veterans Day Celebration yesterday. For the occasion, we brought a portion of our military exhibit for display.

Thank you to all of our veterans - both past and present - for giving so much for our country!

A special congratulations to Berniece Luthy for receiving the Grand Champion award from King Arthur Flour at the Nebraska State Fair the other day with her patriotic bread entry, featuring our America 250 logo as part of her presentation. Congratulations Berniece!

Thank you to the Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild, for selecting this season’s featured quilt!

SUN BONNET SUE THROUGH THE YEAR
1996

This quilt measures 67" × 82", and features a "Sun Bonnet Sue" pattern with the different blocks representing the different months of the year. It was quilted by some of Doniphan's senior citizens, was appliquéd by Ginny Bish, and won "Best of Show" at the Hamilton County Fair in 1996.
