Thank you to all who came out for the history cruise! Our next event is the annual outdoor flea market, which will be held Saturday, September 12, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM This is the 46th annual Atlantic Highlands Historical Society flea market and will be held at the Marina. The rain date is Saturday September 19.

The market will feature antiques, collectibles, and crafts, including new merchandise as well as some second time around goodies one and all can use.

A variety of household items, many furniture items, vintage and new jewelry, tools, toys, clothing, bottles, books, postcards, fishing and boating equipment, old and new plants, flowers, and lots more will be available. There is truly something for everyone.

The Society will be selling food and refreshments. There will also be a treasurer's table and a chance auction, with proceeds going to the restoration of our Strauss Mansion Museum. We will depart the Marina on board the Navesink Queen to enjoy a sunset cruise around Sandy Hook Bay. The tour will feature highlights in a presentation from premier local historian Muriel Smith. Ticket includes a meal of sandwiches, salads, and snacks.

REMINDER: This Tuesday, June 16, as part of the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society's America 250 speaker series, Rick Geffken will be discussing "Amazing New Jersey."

Rick Geffken is a popular local speaker and historian and has written several books, including his latest “New Jersey’s Revolutionary Rivalry”, the story of Captain Joshua Huddy and Colonel Tye. Some of his other books are “Lost Amusement Parks of the North Jersey Shore” and “Stories of Slavery in New Jersey”. His talk “Amazing New Jersey” will feature historical events and famous people that have helped shape New Jersey and the country since the beginning of the United States of America.

The talk will be held at 7pm on Tuesday, June 16th at the Arts Council Gallery, 54 First Avenue, Atlantic Highlands. This talk is one in a series “America 250” presented by the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society. This program is open to all and appropriate for children; in fact, children are encouraged to attend. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Because the Strauss House Museum is closed due to damage, the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council has graciously offered its space for this series.
