📚Collections Highlight! 📚

Featured here are two postcards from our collection depicting the Twin Lights as a tourist destination for Highlands. The vertical postcard is from approximately 1970-1980, whereas the horizontal one is from 1964.

Postcards during their prime functioned as a quick and easy form of communication, allowing the sender to provide who they were writing to with a little slice of the location they were writing from.

📚Collections Highlight! 📚

To***co cards, sometimes called cigarette cards, were included in packages of ci******es sold mainly between the 1870's and 1940's. This card depicting art of Robin's Reef lighthouse is part of a set of 50 trading cards, with the back of the card also featuring a description of the lighthouse and its operating procedures. Once home to keeper Kate Walker, Robin's Reef lighthouse is located just off of the Northern tip of Staten Island and can currently be seen from the Staten Island Ferry, but is closed to visitors.
