The first July 4th tall ships event in New York harbor, was known as OpSail ’76. It was a highlight of America’s bicentennial celebration, where more than six million people assembled in New York and New Jersey to witness the fleet, which was led by a grand parade of 16 major tall ships and included over 100 vessels from 30 countries. A flyover by the Blue Angels was among the many memorable events on an unforgettable Sunday.

This ship is returning 50 years later and can be seen from Twin Lights Historic Site towers. Join Twin Lights Historic Site to celebrate Sails To Shore, on Friday, July 3, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as part of Sail4th 250! Please note last climb will be 4:20 p.m.!
