There were big smiles, loud laughter, and so many proud moments last night at the Antioch Historical Museum! The Antioch High School Girls Softball team, along with their families and coaches, wrapped up the season with a lively awards celebration in our upstairs banquet room.
The Antioch Historical Museum is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m.
While you're there, you'll want to go downstairs and see local male and female sports legends at the Antioch Sports Legends museum. If you love history and want to learn more about our city and region, check it out. It's free!

An exciting new chapter is beginning at the Antioch Historical Museum!
We’re launching a bold 5 Year Strategic Plan to protect Antioch’s heritage and reimagine the museum’s future. Guiding this first phase is our new 8 member Transition Team: (TL) Tom Hartrick, Mike Green, Matthew Hart, Clifton Mbanugo, Strategic Advisor Ray Davi; (BL) Donna McGee, Janet Farr, Theresa Court, and Carla Baker Marymee.
This plan, developed with consultant Sanjay P. Hukku, PhD and funded through a generous estate gift from longtime member Nancy Kelly, introduces a modern structure with a Governing Board, Advisory Team, Executive Director, and Friends of the Museum group.
Our new mission highlights hidden heroes, untold stories, and surprising moments that make Antioch’s history impossible to ignore.
We’re excited for this next chapter — and we invite the community to join us. Stay tuned!

A huge thank-you to the Antioch Police Association Community Engagement Team for their incredible support during our Spring Clean-Up at the Antioch Historical Museum!
Special appreciation to Nick Shipilov, who coordinated the effort and worked side-by-side with fellow officers Loren Bledsoe (ret.), Eric Nilsen, Rick Hoffman and his son, JJ Jeong, Arturo Becerra, Joshua Riosbass, and Brian Cruz-Guzman. These outstanding individuals recently donated their personal time to help care for our museum grounds.
As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) run largely by retired volunteers passionate about preserving Antioch’s history, this support means the world to us. Our 1910 museum building and gardens require constant care, and the officers gave the most valuable gift of all—their time.
We are deeply grateful for their generosity, hard work, and community spirit. The City of Antioch should be proud to have such dedicated public servants. Together, we make our community stronger.

Congratulations are in order for member and former president of our society Dwayne Eubanks for today's fascinating and very successful ANZA250 Symposium and everyone who worked so hard for months to put it together. Dwayne chaired the planning committee for this excellent event that was put together through cooperation among numerous organizations including, for example, the National Park Service, EBRPD, Contra Costa Historical Society, Grassroots Poetry, LMC, Delta Protection Commission, several area museums, and more!
