Take a look at three artists on display in our Summer View Exhibit!

First we have Teresa Okowit, where her love of nature and animals inspires her emotionally expressive drawings and paintings. Her work reflects a deep connection to the natural world and the unique personalities of the animals she portrays.

Next, Jo Sims, who had this to say, “There is something special about witnessing a beautiful landscape, vibrant sunset, or quiet moment with wildlife. Through my photography, I hope to share those experiences with others and create images that make people feel connected to the beauty of the moment, as if they were there themselves.”

We also have Kamara Marsh, an artist and author who participated in a mural that gained world wide attention at only seventeen, later sustaining a head injury where she stopped creating for two decades. When she began again, she experimented with a semi-abstract style. She said “In 2021, after the loss of my only sibling, art became a therapeutic avenue for me. Since then, my work has been in eleven juried shows and won ten awards. I combine my gifts of art and healing to touch people's hearts. My hope is to keep reaching the world, one painting, one person at a time.”

You can see each of these unique artists displays until Sept. 12th. Open Tues.-Fri. 12-7pm and Sat. 10-5!

Washi Tape is a decorative masking tape made from traditional Japanese paper. Great for decorating cards, envelopes, bullet journals, planners, or anything else you are looking to spruce up and put a personal spin on!

Join us to spend an evening designing and creating 2-3 rolls of your very own. Local art instructor, Cara Proehl, will discuss multiple techniques for your creations, but will concentrate mainly on guiding students to paint, draw, or stamp their own tissue images. Designs will then be cut to size and wound around vintage spools for a sweet look! Grab your spot today!

25 years is an exciting milestone, and we couldn’t be more proud of what this we have accomplished with the help of our community. Raelyn states beautifully that “everyone should have access to creative experiences, regardless of age or artistic background.” We wouldn’t be able to make this happen without all of you.

As we hit our 25th anniversary and celebrate our successes, we also brace for turbulence. Grants and funding that traditionally assisted with arts operations have been cut or limited. As we navigate the reality of this future, we rely on your continued support.

Please join us in making Art for Everyone possible by making a donation and/or joining us at the Time Traveler’s Ball this November.

We look forward to creating with you soon!

As we prepare for the Time Traveler’s Ball, we want to share the 25 years of history behind AITL. Our space wouldn’t be complete without everyone who walks in our doors. Kendra Neumann, our dedicated and all-around-amazing Executive Director is sharing her Art in the Loft story, and we want to hear yours next!

She has worked here for 8 years. Through learning, love, and loss, she continues to be a pillar in the artists community in Alpena, striving to create a space where art is accessible and enjoyable to anyone and everyone.

Kendra’s story is one of a kind, and so is yours! Tell us about how Art in the Loft has impacted you đŸŽšđŸŽâ™„ïž

Jamey Gheller is a self taught oil painter, and Juliane Richards is a photographer. Through shots of nature and moments in time, or painting dreamlike scenes - they both tell stories within their art, displayed in our Summer View Exhibit, lasting until Sept. 12th!

Juliane says: “My photography blends emotion, nature, and storytelling. I specialize in capturing dreamy landscapes, night skies, animals, and flowers - along with weddings, engagements, maternity, and senior sessions. My style leans vintage and candid, with an emphasis on golden light and in-the-moment feels.” You can check out her incredible work at

Jamey had this to say: “My goal in life is to help people feel again through sound, color & touch. Activating dormant DNA to awaken the divine spark within you!” She teaches paint to sound, offers sound healing journeys, shamanic drumming & unique spiritual facials at Joshua Tree Studio & Spa here in Alpena.

See both of these colorful displays in detail at Art in the Loft Gallery from 12-7PM Tues.-Fri. as well as 10-5PM Saturdays!

What a wonderful experience it was to have Robin Lee Berry up in Art in the Loft for our Storyteller Series!
Her lyrics, her stories, her answers, all kept us captivated by her raw tales and truths. If you’re ever in Boyne City, we highly recommend finding her playing music, and checking out her Freshwater Art Gallery in the SOBO Arts District.

Thank you again Robin!đŸ•Šïž
