Today, we say goodbye with grateful hearts. ❤️

As we close this season, we reflect on the memories, the lessons, the laughter, and the many moments that made this journey special. Though it’s hard to say goodbye, we are thankful for everyone who has been part of it.

Every ending brings a new beginning, and the memories we’ve made will always remain with us.

Thank you for being part of our journey. This may be the closing of the 2026 season, but the impact and memories will live on forever.

🌺 Did you know? Some of the canna lily bulbs blooming throughout Heart Island’s gardens are more than 20 years old!

Every fall, our grounds crew carefully digs up the bulbs, stores them over the winter, and replants them the following spring. Talk about a tradition that keeps growing! 🌱

New Memorial Garden Bed Honors Two Former Thousand Islands Bridge Authority Employees

Heart Island, Alexandria Bay, NY — September 2026 — A new memorial garden bed has been planted by the Boldt Castle grounds crew on the channel side of Alster Tower on Heart Island, honoring two longtime employees of the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority, Russell Wilcox and Jim Titus.

The memorial garden recognizes the years of service and lasting contributions both men made to the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority and the greater Thousand Islands region.

Russell Wilcox began his career with the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority on June 2, 1962, and retired January 1, 2003, following more than four decades of service. During his career, Wilcox held several positions, including Toll Accountant, Purchasing Agent, Director of Administration, and, beginning in 1977, Executive Director.

Jim Titus joined the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority on December 1, 1974, and retired December 30, 2005. During his more than 31 years of service, he worked as Working Foreman of General Maintenance and later served as a Horticulturist.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to create a lasting tribute to Russell and Jim," said Timothy Sturick, Executive Director. "Their years of service to the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority are an important part of the history of this organization and to the region. We are proud to recognize their contributions here on Heart Island."

Explore the Gardens of Heart Island

Guests will have an opportunity to learn more about the landscape and gardens of Heart Island during a special Garden Tour at Boldt Castle on Sunday, September 27, at 1 p.m.

Led by the Authority’s in-house horticulturist, the tour will offer guests an inside look at the gardens and landscape of Heart Island, including the care and ongoing work involved in preserving this important part of the property.

The Garden Tour is $20 per person and includes admission to Boldt Castle. Reservations are required, and space is limited. Transportation to Heart Island is not included. Please call the Admissions Office to reserve your spot.
