60th Annual Cowboy Artists of America Exhibition & Sale 🏛️🎨

The countdown to the CA's biggest event of the year continues! As a reminder, the show is one month earlier than usual this year—occurring October 2–3 at our brand-new location: The Legacy Building at National Western in Denver, Colorado.

Our dad has been completely immersed in his studio the last several months preparing his new paintings for the exhibition. Here is a preview of one of the oil paintings he will have in the show. This one is titled "The Searchers". You can almost feel the freezing high-country air, and we love the little details like the early morning moon.

In life as a cowboy, just like in the rodeo arena, there is no room for hesitation. The line between a legendary ride and a dangerous wreck comes down to a fraction of a second.

Ever spent a quiet summer night out under a blanket of stars listening to the distant sounds of the range? On the historic cattle drives north from Texas into Kansas, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, cowboys were always assigned to the vital job of night herding. To keep the cattle from wandering or spooking into a dangerous stampede during night storms, these riders would circle the herd all night long, singing or playing music to keep them calm. This painting captures that peaceful midnight shift—where a lone cowboy gently plays his harmonica as the entire herd rests quietly under a full moon.
