Cowboys are no strangers to sunup. They’re up, in the saddle, and moving before the sun is up. It’s a good way to start the day, when you’re moving on a good horse and have been up before the sun so you have the chance to see it come up and greet the sun. In this painting I’m trying to depict a saying I read in an article once - “10 am and a day’s work done.” Cowboy’s often put in what most people do in a day before it’s even 10 am. It’s pretty cool. 24x36 “The Kings of Freedom” - Wild horses are free. They run free, they live free, they die free. They are the epitome of freedom. It’s exciting to watch a herd of wild horses running, covering the country with speed and sure-footedness. “The Smell O’Trouble” - This painting depicts a hometown sheriff eyeballing some suspicious characters entering town. As they ride past the bank, they are a little more than conspicuous in their attention to the bank. The alert eyes of the sheriff pick up on that. This scene takes place in Star Valley, Wyoming as denoted by the name of the bank. The time period is the the late 1800’s or early in 1900’s.
